Description

The award-winning RAZ Memory Cell Phone is an easy-to-use, groundbreaking cell phone for people with memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, low vision, Parkinson’s or seniors who prefer an intuitive experience. The phone consists of one primary screen and one screen only. It allows seniors to stay connected with friends and family through regular phone calls, video calls and text messages, while allowing the caregiver to manage the phone from afar.

The single screen includes three elements:

  1. Photos and names of up to fifty contacts with six large icons per page;
  2. An optional 911 button or the alternative RAZ Emergency Service subscription;
  3. Optional information such as date & time, day of the week, battery power and signal strength.

The RAZ Memory Cell Phone does not exit the home screen.  This prevents users from getting confused in the normal smartphone environment. Even the power button can be disabled.

The display, which is a large 6.5 inches, does not time out.  It can remain always-on or go dark after 2 minutes and wake up with movement.  At your option, incoming calls can be restricted to those coming from Contacts, eliminating undesirable predatory calls.

With a relentless focus on being extremely intuitive and easy to use, the RAZ Memory Cell Phone requires only a simple tap to place and answer calls. The caregiver also has the option to adapt the call activation method to the option that best suits their senior’s needs and ability.

Remote Manage provides caregivers the unprecedented ability to remotely control ALL aspects of their senior’s cell phone through a simple app. Create and edit contacts, manage settings, access the phone information and much more from your own smartphone (iPhone or Android).

Key features:

Phone calls: Place and answer calls with a simple tap allowing the senior to stay connected with friends and family. The caregiver can manage the contacts with the RAZ Care app.

Block unwanted incoming calls: Avoid scams and robocalls with this essential feature that allows incoming calls only from contacts, enhancing your senior’s safety.

Video calls: Stay connected with your senior effortlessly. Only approved contacts can initiate video calls, not the senior.

Text messaging: A simplified, customizable experience that allows seniors to send and receive text messages according to their needs and abilities, featuring super-large letters, big buttons, speech-to-text, and quick answer options. Caregivers can also control who the senior can text and who can text them. Currently, this feature does not support group messaging or the ability to share photos.

Press & hold buttons: The caregiver can choose between different press & hold methods to prevent unwanted calls. And we have added an extra layer of safety with the call confirmation screen.

Settings are disabled for the user: ALL the settings including the volume rocker are remotely managed by the caregiver through the RAZ Care app. Caregivers can even disable the power button to avoid the phone to be accidentally turned off. This means peace of mind for the caregiver and safety for the senior.

Reminders: From your own smartphone, you can send your senior reminders about medicines, appointments or important events and see if they were acknowledged. Reminder colors and font size can be customized through the RAZ Care app.

Quiet hours: Prevent your senior with dementia from calling specified contacts during certain hours of the day or in the middle of the night.

Loneliness alerts: Reduce loneliness! Receive an alert when the user does not participate in the desired number of calls.

Manage battery charging: The RAZ Memory Cell Phone provides four key charging features. Seniors can get reminders to charge the phone and will receive visual & audible confirmation when the phone is connected to the charger. Caregivers can track the remaining battery power and charging status in the RAZ Care app and receive text alerts when the battery is low.

Location tracking & Status check: With the RAZ Care app, caregivers can get peace of mind by checking the real-time status of their senior’s phone, as well as its location.

Calling emergency services: Control how users can call emergency services.  Three options are available, including an option for a 911 emergency button that is always within reach for your senior’s safety.

RAZ Emergency Service: With the RAZ Emergency Service, every emergency call is routed to a private dispatch agent who assesses the situation and contacts 911 if necessary.

Calls can go automatically to Speaker mode: With this option, seniors can hear calls clearly. The RAZ Memory Cell Phone’s speaker’s loudness can reach up to 125.6dB!

Calls can be answered automatically: With the Auto-answer option, incoming calls from contacts will be answered automatically and the call will be on speaker.

Low Vision and Hand Tremor mode: An even simpler interface with super-larger icons, fewer contacts per page and bigger buttons. You can select the color scheme and customize the contact icons for better contrast. You can also add a status tile, showing a large time and battery level. The ideal mode for those with low vision, Parkinson’s, hand tremor and others.

Wireless charging: The wireless charging set (sold separately) allows the user to easily charge the phone by placing it on the wireless charging stand or pad without the hassle of plugging in the charging cable.

Free updates: We are always looking to improve our products to make seniors’ and caregivers’ lives easier. When we launch new updates to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone, our customers get 100% free access to them.

Enhance your senior’s safety with our solutions

RAZ Emergency Service: With this subscription-based service, emergency calls are connected to a highly trained agent to help the senior through their problem.  The agent will have access to the senior’s location and other helpful information provided by the caregiver.  Text messages will be sent to emergency contacts, providing the opportunity to interact directly with the agent to assess the nature of the emergency and provide input. The RAZ Emergency Service helps avoid up to 95% of unnecessary emergency calls.

RAZ Alert: Respond more quickly to your senior’s emergencies. When your senior calls 911, receive a text message alerting you to the call. Up to 3 people can receive the 911 text message alert. There’s no additional cost for this feature.

Auto Answer: If your senior is not answering the phone and you believe that they might be experiencing an emergency, you can activate the Auto Answer feature in the RAZ Care app. When you call, the RAZ Memory Cell Phone will answer automatically after 4 or 5 rings and go to speakerphone. This is a great safety feature if your senior has fallen, for example, and can’t get to the phone! There’s no additional cost for this feature.

And there’s more!

A variety of useful RAZ Memory Cell Phone accessories, such as wireless charging sets and protective cases, are available here

This phone has been a tremendous asset to my dad who’s in an assisted living facility. He was having difficulty calling family and friends on his previous cell device and you could see how he was struggling with loneliness from the lack of conversations with those he cares about. Since he received the RAZ Memory Phone it’s been a total win on so many levels. He’s able to make multiple phone calls in a day by simply pressing the picture of the person he wants to contact. The buttons are very easy to use and he has no trouble navigating making or receiving a call.. An added bonus is the ability to make changes to his phone from a different state using the app. This has been an incredible blessing to Dad and our family.

adding on to my recent review !
customer service is out this world, no wait time, helpful friendly real people that assist you, so rare these days, even the chat messaging was on top of it !

  3. Petra N (verified owner)

    bought this for my mom
    1. price – terrific – easy to control from my phone and looks like an i phone, her flip phone was about 200$ and tiny and poor visibility and constantly misdialed and got frustrated
    2. EASY set up, EASY to control from my phone and so many thought out features and options
    3. cannot wait to start using it with her, i just set it up and will leave a follow up review
    4. I am a physician, I work with elderly patients / memory impairments and physical disabilities (vision, osteoarthritis in hnads, neurologic disorders) daily and this is the best phone i have discovered to date, i am thrilled to share it with friends, families, patients

  4. Zenon Slawinski (verified owner)

We got the RAZ Memory Cell Phone to replace my brother-in-laws iPhone which he no longer was able to manage. All we needed was a simple communication device, not a portable computer. It does one thing and does it very well. This phone fit the ticket perfectly. After a fairly quick tutorial he took to it and really enjoys using it. We haven’t texted yet but the phone is remarkably easy to use and manage. We also got a protective case and charging pad. All excellent products. Tech Support has been superb as well. Quick response time and knowledgable phone help. Bravo!!!

  5. Mary Pooler (verified owner)

This phone is a fantastic idea, my mother in law thought it was terrific but then we noticed she wasn’t using it and then we noticed she wasn’t answering it and we realized she just lost interest in the phone altogether. We are so sad by this as this was her life line and the grandkids can’t call her now. I am returning it within the 20 days because she just isn’t using it. I am sad to say I didn’t read the return policy and I am not crazy they charge a 75.00 restocking fee but that’s on me. RAZ I told a lot of people about this phone so I hope your sales go up because this phone is genius…well could use a bit longer battery life…but still genius!!

    • RAZ Mobility Team

      Hi Mary,

Thank you for your kind words! We’re sorry to hear that your mother in law hasn’t adapted to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone, though. Also, we’ve recently reduced our restocking fee to $50.

If you ever need anything from us, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help!

  6. Anne Fitch (phone purchased by Deborah Solinas

The Raz Memory Phone is great when it works. The problem is keeping it charged. The battery isn’t very good and discharges very quickly once the phone is unplugged, this is due to the display not going to sleep. We were told that once the phone is placed on a flat surface, the display will sleep but that is only the case now and then. Since my mother is not able to plug the charging cord into the phone, the phone ends up dead a few days a week until I can get there and plug it in. We tried the Wireless Charging Set for Memory Cell Phone – Pad. It didn’t work well because the phone has to be placed just so for it to charge and my mother wasn’t able to do it, or would bump it if she did mange to place it correctly and it wouldn’t charge. We are thinking about trying the Wireless Charging Set for Memory Cell Phone – Stand but it is nearly $70.00, same as for the pad and it is hard to save up and spend that amount when we don’t know if it would work. Also, since the phone won’t be on a flat surface the display won’t ever go to sleep. That would be a problem at night. If the display would go to sleep based on inactivity alone and not phone position, we might want to try the charger stand providing we can return it if she can’t manage it. When the phone isn’t dead, it works great!

    • RAZ Mobility Team

      Hi Anne,

Thank you for your feedback. To allow the phone to go to sleep when unplugged, you can enable the Auto lock screen feature in the RAZ Care app. This way, the display will go dark after two minutes of inactivity and wake up with movement. Additionally, we’re planning to launch an update that will allow the phone screen to go to sleep even when charging on the wireless charger. Stay tuned for upcoming news!

My partner, whom has dementia, was unable to work his phone. His cognitive skills could no longer figure out how to manage texting or calls. I came across this phone, The RAZ, that highlighted for dementia patients and was controlled by the caregivers phone. I was intrigued. I read up on the uses of no emails, texting, unwanted calls, so needless to say I purchased it. The caregiver control is amazing. You put in contacts the people you want your loved one to be able to call and receive calls from your phone app along with their picture. The screen stays lit the entire time. So they just push the picture to make a call. You can set it up to announce who the caller is when the phone rings and the phone can automatically announce the caller and after 3 rings it automatically answers the phone for your loved one. They basically just need to talk. Great idea. BIG BREAKTHROUGH if you ask me. Bless the people who came up with this. GENIUS!!!

My family & I are part of a living estate/financial mgmnt board for a memory care loved one. Raz & their employees went out of their way to answer all of our questions, hear concerns and help us make a unanimous decision. We especially love that we can keep our service provider but still use important features such as the caregiver app & emergency help feature. This is such a fabulous service that I’m hoping will become more mainstream and easily accessible in near future, but until then, Razz memory phones with compatible caregiver apps & numerous helpful features are where it’s at for anyone trying to help a loved one age in place! Special thanks to Diana who happily answered dozens of tedious questions, was kind, prompt and thorough. Raz, you have a great employee in her- give her some kudos bc we put her through her paces today and she was nothing but wonderful. And thank you so much for providing these critical services to the ever increasing mental health & memory care population. It’s a godsend, truly.

The phone was great for my grandmother with dementia, but unfortunately my experience with affinity cellular who provides the initial free phone service was awful. My grandmother has passed recently and affinity has been impossible to get customer service on the phone and giving me the run around on canceling her plan. Order the phone if you have a loved one with dementia, but whatever you do don’t activate with affinity!

    • RAZ Mobility Team

      Hi Kirsten,

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad that the RAZ Memory Cell Phone worked well for your grandmother, and we’re sorry about the experience you had. We were informed that your Affinity account has already been canceled.

After reading some good reviews online, we took a chance on yet another “senior friendly” technology device for my 89 year old father with significant short-term memory issues. Initially, dad was confused and somewhat perplexed on why he needed a new device (forgetting that he was unable to make calls any more on his current flip phone). After the first day of training, we caught dad experimenting with the phone and actually CALLING some of his friends and family members without our help. An amazing success story from our perspective.

In the following weeks, we have configured the phone to remove all of the features that cause dad to get overwhelmed, and now we leave it happily sitting in the charge station with the top six contact pictures prominently displayed so that dad can make a call, “just in case.”

Like anything new for a memory-impaired person, it still requires frequent reminders on our part and regular demonstrations of us making calls for him from the phone, so he can see it in action and have a reminder what this device is good for. RAZ mobility has been a big help in getting it configured properly, and has done an excellent job of allowing the caregivers to manage the device silently behind the scenes, without constantly having to bother dad and confuse him why we are constantly having to fiddle with his replacement phone.

FYI, to ease the pain on dad’s part, we actually kept his old flip phone alive and forwarded his phone number to the flip phone, so he can still answer the calls the way he’s been accustomed to for the past 4 years. Teaching dad how to press the big green “answer” button was going to be too much of a challenge, and the phone is too large to comfortably fit in dad’s pocket when he is walking around his apartment or out with us shopping at the grocery store.
