Description
The award-winning RAZ Memory Cell Phone is an easy-to-use, groundbreaking cell phone for people with memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, low vision, Parkinson’s or seniors who prefer an intuitive experience. The phone consists of one primary screen and one screen only. It allows seniors to stay connected with friends and family through regular telephone calls or video calls and allows the caregiver to manage the phone from afar.
The single screen includes three elements:
- Photos and names of up to fifty contacts with six large icons per page;
- An optional 911 button or the alternative RAZ Emergency Service subscription;
- Optional information such as date & time, day of the week, battery power and signal strength.
The RAZ Memory Cell Phone does not exit the home screen. This prevents users from getting confused in the normal smartphone environment. Even the power button can be disabled.
The display, which is a large 6.5 inches, does not time out. It can remain always-on or go dark after 2 minutes and wake up with movement. At your option, incoming calls can be restricted to those coming from Contacts, eliminating undesirable predatory calls.
With a relentless focus on being extremely intuitive and easy to use, the RAZ Memory Cell Phone requires only a simple tap to place and answer calls. The caregiver also has the option to adapt the call activation method to the option that best suits their senior’s needs and ability.
Remote Manage provides caregivers the unprecedented ability to remotely control ALL aspects of their senior’s cell phone through a simple app. Create and edit contacts, manage settings, access the phone information and much more from your own smartphone (iPhone or Android).
Key features:
Phone calls: Place and answer calls with a simple tap allowing the senior to stay connected with friends and family. The caregiver can manage the contacts with the RAZ Care app.
Block unwanted incoming calls: Avoid scams and robocalls with this essential feature that allows incoming calls only from contacts, enhancing your senior’s safety.
Video calls: Stay connected with your senior effortlessly. Only approved contacts can video call the Memory Phone user.
Press & hold buttons: The caregiver can choose between different press & hold methods to prevent unwanted calls. And we have added an extra layer of safety with the call confirmation screen.
Settings are disabled for the user: ALL the settings including the volume rocker are remotely managed by the caregiver through the RAZ Care app. Caregivers can even disable the power button to avoid the phone to be accidentally turned off. This means peace of mind for the caregiver and safety for the senior.
Reminders: From your own smartphone, you can send your senior reminders about medicines, appointments or important events and see if they were acknowledged. Reminder colors and font size can be customized through the RAZ Care app.
Quiet hours: Prevent your senior with dementia from calling specified contacts during certain hours of the day or in the middle of the night.
Loneliness alerts: Reduce loneliness! Receive an alert when the user does not participate in the desired number of calls.
Manage battery charging: The RAZ Memory Cell Phone provides four key charging features. Seniors can get reminders to charge the phone and will receive visual & audible confirmation when the phone is connected to the charger. Caregivers can track the remaining battery power and charging status in the RAZ Care app and receive text alerts when the battery is low.
Location tracking & Status check: With the RAZ Care app, caregivers can get peace of mind by checking the real-time status of their senior’s phone, as well as its location.
Calling emergency services: Control how users can call emergency services. Three options are available, including an option for a 911 emergency button that is always within reach for your senior’s safety.
RAZ Emergency Service: With the RAZ Emergency Service, every emergency call is routed to a private dispatch agent who assesses the situation and contacts 911 if necessary.
Calls can go automatically to Speaker mode: With this option, seniors can hear calls clearly. The RAZ Memory Cell Phone’s speaker’s loudness can reach up to 125.6dB!
Calls can be answered automatically: With the Auto-answer option, incoming calls from contacts will be answered automatically and the call will be on speaker.
Low Vision and Hand Tremor mode: An even simpler interface with super-larger icons, less contacts per page and bigger buttons. The ideal mode for those with low vision, Parkinson’s, hand tremor and others.
Wireless charging: The wireless charging set (sold separately) allows the user to easily charge the phone by placing it on the wireless charging stand or pad without the hassle of plugging in the charging cable.
Free updates: We are always looking to improve our products to make seniors’ and caregivers’ lives easier. When we launch new updates to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone, our customers get 100% free access to them.
Enhance your senior’s safety with our solutions
RAZ Emergency Service: With this subscription-based service, emergency calls are connected to a highly trained agent to help the senior through their problem. The agent will have access to the senior’s location and other helpful information provided by the caregiver. Text messages will be sent to emergency contacts, providing the opportunity to interact directly with the agent to assess the nature of the emergency and provide input. The RAZ Emergency Service helps avoid up to 95% of unnecessary emergency calls.
RAZ Alert: Respond more quickly to your senior’s emergencies. When your senior calls 911, receive a text message alerting you to the call. Up to 3 people can receive the 911 text message alert. There’s no additional cost for this feature.
Auto Answer: If your senior is not answering the phone and you believe that they might be experiencing an emergency, you can activate the Auto Answer feature in the RAZ Care app. When you call, the RAZ Memory Cell Phone will answer automatically after 4 or 5 rings and go to speakerphone. This is a great safety feature if your senior has fallen, for example, and can’t get to the phone! There’s no additional cost for this feature.
And there’s more!

I have been looking for a phone that would not confuse my Mother with her dementia. I have not found a phone that would work for her until I found this one. Having the ability to set up and control the phone from the caregiver portal has greatly reduced the time I have to spend dealing with phone issues. My Mother lets me know if she needs to add a number to her list and I can do the from anywhere without having to physically change it on her phone. I also like being able to check the battery level from the portal adn let her know if she needs to charger her phone if she forgets. No more assuming the phone is just dead. The GPS feature also gives me peace of mind to know were she is or if her phone was left somewhere. This is a great solution if you are looking for a phone for your family member with dementia.

I can’t thank you enough for working me to get the phone up & running for my mom. She’s starting to adjust to using it. This phone will help her as she gets flustered with all the options even on a basic cell phone.
Arlene –
I am so grateful for this phone & the wonderful support staff that helped me with my questions & missteps. Tried out the phone with family members & are anxious to give it to her on Monday, her 92nd birthday. This will be a godsend for her to be able to communicate with her family during these difficult times. Usually there are only 5 stars but would give 10! Thank you for making this a very bright moment. Thank you again.
Penny –
I am so very thankful for this phone. It has given my father a sense of freedom again. His confidence in using the phone is phenomenal and we haven’t been able to say that in a while. I am wondering if there is a case that can be recommended that has a cover for the front that will stop accidental calls. PLEASE LOOK AT THIS PHONE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE, YOU WON’T REGRET IT.

I purchased this phone for my mom who has dementia and was having great difficulty using even her simple flip phone. It is very easy to use and wonderful that I can manage the phone from the portal. I would rate “5” except 1) I assume there is no way to disable the 911 function due to legal issues, but it would be nice if I could since she is in a nursing home and help is always nearby; 2) would be nice to get rid of the message that says “individual’s voicemail has not been set up” since there is no voicemail option (I get calls from my mother’s family asking why she has no voicemail); 3) would be nice to be able to increase the number of rings. It only rings four times and it usually takes her longer than that to get across her room to answer since she doesn’t carry the phone around with her. All in all, though, very happy with this purchase.
RAZ Mobility –
Thank you for your review!
You’re correct, the 911 function cannot be disable due to legal and regulatory issues. However, we offer the RAZ Emergency Service as an alternative. You can find more details at https://www.razmobility.com/product/raz-mobility-emergency-service-annual-plan/
As for 2) the voicemail message and 2) the number of rings – these are control day the wireless provider. The number of rings / ring duration can bu adjusted by some of the carriers. Please contact the carrier and request it to be changed.

This phone is very nice to look at and easy to use. I love that we can limit the calls that my mom receives. She was always so confused by the spam calls about the extended warranty for her car. It’s great that she doesn’t get those anymore. It’s also really nice that she can see photos of my sisters and me to decide who she wants to call.
We have already seen the benefit of the emergency service. It works perfectly when my mom accidently dials the 911 button!
When I purchased the phone, I did so with the expectation that I could limit her repeated calls. I didn’t realize that I would have to remove the programmed numbers from the main screen in order to limit those calls. In a future update, I would love to see an option that allowed me to just put her on a brief pause without having to change the look of her interface.

I am pleased with the simplicity of this phone. We have the Verizon version. It is easy to set up, and my wife is learning to operate it better than her previous phone.
However, there are a couple of things I do not like. One, the volume is fixed, and it is too loud for certain situations. Secondly, there is no way to track missed calls, or voice mail.
It would be nice to be able to adjust ring volume from the portal, and also, change the ring tone from the portal.
Another suggestion is to add a locating option to an app that can be easily accessed from my phone, similar to the “find my phone” app that Apple has.

I can’t express how much this has helped in communicating with my mother that has dementia. When she calls me, she feels that independence, and not having to rely on anyone making her calls for her. Also, can call her anytime and she will answer. Love it!
Diana (verified owner) –
We all like the phone. I appreciate the customer support. I had trouble understanding a couple points and they explained the solutions well. I was having trouble changing from dark to light background. It worked fine in Chrome and didn’t work in Safari. There is a message about messages, which is confusing in that it doesn’t accept messages in the first place. It’s the perfect phone for my mother-in-law.
Donna (verified owner) –
I think this phone will work very well. Mom is has a learning curve because it is something different. Love the ability to make sure it is charged and to set-up her contacts. I am a bit disappointed in the battery life when the power is set to be left on. Being able to eliminate the scam calls is a blessing.

This phone solved our conundrum with needing a simple phone for our older guy who now feels reconnected without the barrage of incomprehensible scammers. The tech support and customer service is responsive, efficient and superb.

I just wanted to say thank you for this product. My mom, who has dementia, broke her hip, got COVID while in the hospital and ended up recovering from both in isolation in a nursing facility. She has been struggling to understand what is happening to her and not being able to be there with her has been a challenge for all of us. This phone has helped her tremendously. She had forgotten how to use a cell phone a long time ago but she can use this phone and it has lifted her spirits to stay in touch and she likes looking at our pictures. It’s such a well designed product and the customer support you offer is very appreciated as well. The staff at the Verizon store wrote down the information because they said they get requests for senior-friendly phones all the time and they don’t sell anything like this phone. The therapy staff at the nursing home commented that they love the phone as well and will be recommending it to other families in the facility.
So, thank you for making such a thoughtful product and know that you have helped my mom tremendously during a challenging time for her.

RAZ phone works well for my 96 year old Mother-in Law. Tech support was very helpful with initial set-up.

Great phone for my 90 year old parents except every time they pick it ok to take it with them or put it on their pocket or purse, it accidently dials their contact as the pictures are easily bumped or touched. Is there anyway around this?
RAZ Mobility –
Hello Elizabeth,
Thank you very much for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that the phone is working out for your parents.
One option we can recommend to prevent the accidental dials is the pouch with belt clip – https://www.razmobility.com/product/memory-phone-vertical-pouch-with-belt-clip-large/

The phone is made by Motorolla which is an excellent manufacturer using a custom-made OS for RAZ. Overall, the phone is of high quality and the ease of use is high. However, I wish there were more options available to the user and caretaker. As I see it right now, this phone is just too simple. If a caretaker is trying to reach the user while away and the user misses the call there is no missed call log that informs the user who called. If possible I’d recommend an option that allows the contact bubbles to be customized to be almost as apps, so one contact bubble could be a call log.
RAZ Mobility –
Hello Alexander,
Thank you very much for your review, feedback and suggestions! Additional features and options are being developed and will be available as a free update to existing customers as well.

This phone has been a godsend to me as the caretaker of my mother from three states away. I love how I can manage the phone via the portal. There are so many things I love about this phone and its ease of use for my mother. Other reviews talked about the default ringtone volume being very loud and unable to change. The ringtone volume was super loud! I called RazMobility Support and they walked me through how to lower the ring volume (but you can only do it when having the phone physically with you and they walk you through all of the steps). I’m sure there are other changes RazMobility support can help you with. Just call them and ask, “Can _____ be adjusted on the phone?” They have been super helpful. I love how simple the portal is to manage and how I can see the battery life, and GPS location of my mother’s phone. The MintMobile cell service did not do too well in my mother’s nursing home, but it was easy to switch out the SIM cards to another carrier. But make sure you purchase the more expensive Raz phone so you can easily switch carriers if you need to. I would have stayed with MintMobile if the reception was better as their website is super easy to navigate. So this review doesn’t go on forever, I’ll focus on some features I would like to see in the future: recent call list, ability to adjust the ringtone volume, voice volume from portal. One glitch I’ve found is that when my mother presses the “Hang Up” button too long, she accidentally calls the contacts listed in the #5 & 6 spots. To avoid her accidentally calling someone a lot, I added my contact info into slots 5 & 6. So if it happens, she is just calling me. We also bought the wireless charger (which comes with the protective phone case). That way my mom does not have to struggle to plug in the regular phone charger. The wireless charger charges super slow to avoid wearing out the battery. This phone is awesome. Raz, if you created an affiliate program, I think you could get the word out even more about this phone. I would be a huge cheerleader of the phone!

I am very pleased overall – the phone is very simple to use. My one big issue with the phone is that there is no way to customize the amount of pressure needed to “press” the screen. My mom has sensory issues in her fingertips, and is having a card time pressing the screen – especially the “Answer” and “Hang Up” buttons. Are there any work-arounds this problem? What else can be used to supply adequate pressure to the screen?

I bought this for my mother who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and she struggles with mixing up numbers. It’s so helpful to touch on a face and be able to call her contacts. However, it’s too easy to call contacts, meaning…. many times, just picking up the phone results in mistakingly placing calls. I would like to see a phone that you have to hold your finger on a pic for a second or 2. Right now, just inadvertently brushing the screen results in placing a phone call. My mother hesitates to pick up the phone because of that reason.
Kathy Thorbjornsen –
I purchased this phone for my Dad who we just moved into a nursing home due to dementia. He became unable to remember how to work his old cell phone or the regular telephone. The RAZ has been a Godsend. It’s so easy for him to use and he is absolutely thrilled to be re-connected with his family. I had a little trouble activating it, ( a senior citizen setting up a phone for a senior citizen…what could go wrong???). But I called customer service and the rep that helped me was amazing. Patient and knowledgable and even emailed me pictures of what things should look like along the way. She made sure I knew how to add names and pictures to the phone and even offered to do it for me if I emailed her the pictures. I’ve called a few times with questions and I reach a human being quickly and they always know the answer to my questions. Customer service of the highest caliber. So far the only downside is that when the phone is in the case the volume of the ringtone is very low and my Dad doesn’t always hear it. I’ve called customer service and they told me that I have to be near the phone to adjust the volume, so the next time I am there I will give them a call. The RAZ is the absolute perfect cell phone for any senior but especially one who has impaired mental capabilities.
Katri McLendon –
My 92 year old father loves this phone. I love not worrying that someone is scamming him over the phone. He loves showing it off to his friends at the retirement community. I love not spending hours trying to talk him through getting him back on his phone. He loves not calling the wrong person because he touched the wrong line in his contacts. I love updating new phone numbers for his contacts without having to have his phone in hand. For us it’s a win/win/win.
Susan Rogers (verified owner) –
I purchased the phone for my 96-year-old Dad. I immediately ordered the charging stand because he was having difficulty plugging the charger into the small hole at the bottom of the phone. Also, he tends to grab the phone, which means his palm or fingers will dial a number. Since it’s just family, we laugh it off but a cover to prevent accidental dialing might be helpful. Otherwise, we are very happy with the phone. Easy to use. No voicemail to worry about. We also purchased the carrying case so he could put it into his shirt pocket and not worry that he will lean forward and allow the phone to drop out and break. He loves the phone and says he feels safer having it with him in the car.

GOOD SUPPORT I turned my memory phone on before I installed the SIM card that came with it. Then, I could not turn it off to safely install the SIM. A call to 800-729-0083 quickly got the problem fixed.

My Dad doesn’t have dementia but is 87. We got the Raz phone and it’s like a long, cool drink of water. We tried Jitterbug and Jethro “senior friendly” phones and they were a JOKE. Raz is the first truly SIMPLE phone – no menus, God bless them, and remotely configurable. The only thing I would criticize, and I hope Raz is listening… About once or twice a day, the Raz phone makes an outgoing call while in my Dad’s pants pocket. I have witnessed this first-hand. He’s puttering around the kitchen, not bending over, not with his hands in his pocket, and his phone calls me. If he were allowed to “turn off” the screen before he puts the phone in his pocket, I believe the problem would be fixed. We did try a belt holster, but with his posture, his belt is too close to his armpits and it takes so long to get the phone out of the holster that the phone stops ringing before he can answer.
Carol Cleaver –
Overall, we were very pleased with the Raz phone. We also purchased the Raz emergency service, an excellent service for the accidental or sometimes intentional 911 calls. Customer service is excellent; they return voice messages quickly and are very thorough in responding to questions about the phone. Our comments are similar to others regarding multiple calls to contacts, even when the phone was sitting on a flat surface. We tried the recommended pouch and clip, without success. Also, we could not increase the volume without using an external speaker. Set aside these two concerns, the joy the phone brought to our mother in the few months she used it was worth the repeated dials. For anyone considering the phone, the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences. I recommend this phone to family and caregivers of persons with dementia.
Denise MacFadden (verified owner) –
As the caregiver for my cousin with developmental disabilities and issues with obsessive compulsive disorder, I am thrilled with the phone we purchased for her. She now can only call those friends and family that won’t have issues with her sometimes obsessive calling and I can now easily and remotely block calls from persons she currently deems “irritating“. With the purchase of the emergency service plan, we no longer fear problems with law enforcement due to potential misuse of the 911 services, but continue to provide her with help in case of a true emergency. This phone should be promoted to the community of persons with developmental disabilities as it would assist many families in similar situations as ours.
Sandy Blumberg –
Four months after buying a RAZ mobility phone for my 93 year old father-in-law, I have purchased another one for my parents. This phone has allowed easy and reliable communication for a man who was unable to use a standard cell phone. He is thriving now, unafraid to be left alone, as he feels confident in the easy to use touch screen. He is socializing once again by reaching out to friends and family. The photo displays make use intuitive, as he has no trouble remembering how to use the phone. While wearing the phone on a lanyard, the sensitivity of the screen allowed for many unintended calls. We solved the problem by using a piece of thin clear plastic with a rubber band over the screen. Not perfect, but an easy solution. Included with the phone was an offer for service with the carrier Mint which I was surprised to find works perfectly in the rural area where I live.
Upon ordering the second phone for my parents, customer service reached out to inquire if I’d had a problem with the first phone or if this was for another user. They noticed that I’d ordered a different model from the first and proceeded to upgrade me to a more expensive phone that could be served by most carriers at no additional cost! I’m really blown away at the quality and attention to detail of the customer service. Eldercare can often be difficult to navigate, but this product and the follow up is amazingly efficient. Thanks to all involved
Linda (verified owner) –
Have had the phone less than a month and so far so good. A couple of issues we had were battery died and accidental calls. With the phone in the case when my mom goes to charge it she was having trouble getting it all the way connected so it did not charge. She now is trying to remember to pop it out of the case to avoid that. Rep I talked to was extremely helpful and got it charged back up via a couple simple steps. I wish you could just plug it back in to charge when that happens. Second issue of accidental calls – when holding the phone her thumb touches the #2 picture in her right hand so always calling that person. Remedied by making that a duplicate of #1 person which is her home phone. So if she calls it, no big deal and no one else is getting calls. So essentially we are only using 5 placeholders. The phone case is very nice and protects from other accidental calling. Would be nice to have bright colors so it is easily seen by low vision people!
Dan –
The phone works great for my 91 yr old mother in-law who hassle memory issues. The only improvement I would like to see is the ability to have the screed shut off to save battery life. It dims but still consumes power and requires charging every night.
Bobbie Bonnickson (verified owner) –
This phone is exactly what we needed for my 86 year old mom. Super simple for her to use and simple for me to control things from the portal. We ordered a stand for the phone from Amazon and that eliminated her issues with accidentally touching somewhere she shouldn’t, and making accidental calls, and from dropping the phone when trying not to touch the buttons on the side. The stand made a huge difference for her so I would recommend that to anyone who gets this great phone. Works just as promised and I can’t say enough about the fabulous service! I feel like they know who I am when I call and they are always very helpful. Thanks so much for your fantastic product and extraordinary service!
Jennifer (verified owner) –
This phone is perfect for my aging father. I had set up questions for customer service and they were very friendly and helpful. Needs charged daily as the phone doesn’t hibernate (we purchased the platform charger for ease of use and it illuminates blue-so it’s obvious to the eye that it’s charging.) We solved the problem of accidental misdials by purchasing the wallet case (nice magnetic closure and works with the platform charger).
The portal makes it easy for me to check battery life, add/delete contacts and control who calls him, aside from whose on his contact list. The clarity on both ends is great. The ringer/volume is fixed (loud).
Couple negatives- (1) if the phone battery completely dies, you have to power it back up by the power button on the side of phone after charging for a bit-glad I was around to do this for him. (2) doesn’t show missed calls. All in all, very pleased with the simplicity of this phone while offering pease of mind.
Eric Yarbrough III –
I purchased this phone for my brother who has rapid arm and hand tremors due to Parkinson’s Disease. He also has early Dementia. He is not tech savvy at all. The Raz phone is truly a blessing to him and my family not only because it’s simple and easy to use, but it eliminates the clutter he would have to navigate through using the traditional smart phone. He is proud that he has a device that is fully simplistic and streamlined to his need, but also instills his dignity just by the phone’s impressive appearance. Raz mobility technical support is Fantastic! I have dismissed products from other companies just on the premise of customer support alone, regardless of the quality of product. I was helped by Alex at Raz Tech support. He was extremely knowledgeable, methodical, courteous, and above all, patient. I enjoyed one of the best customer experiences I have had in many months. Kudos to Alex.

Great phone for those with dementia. Easy to set up from the caregiver portal. Customer Service is great. An improvement would have the phone shut off automatically if not being used since the battery goes down and the phone has to be charged daily.

I recently returned my mother’s Memory Cell Phone because someone at her care facility had inadvertently exited the app and did a factory reset. Within a week, I had the phone back with the app reinstalled. Not only that, you installed the new version which has great new options AND sent a complimentary wireless charging platform because she had damaged the charger port trying to put the charger in the wrong way. That is customer service above and beyond.
Thank you so much for your awesome service and great product. It is the only phone my mother with dementia is able to use.

I am from Canada and, My Dad was diagnosed with Dementia and was struggling with a Seniors Phone that we had purchased locally. With his condition, his cell phone became extremely important to him. Seeing his frustration in trying to use his phone was, heart breaking. I researched throughout Canada with no luck in finding a suitable phone that would work for his needs. After much searching I, finally located the Raz Memory Cell in the USA. It suited all requirement’s that I was looking for. I purchased it and it was a perfect fit! We did have some issues with it but, the Raz Memory Support Team went above and beyond to offer technical and user support. I can’t Thank Alex enough from Raz Support for, his kindness, understanding, patience and, expertise in helping us resolve all issues in Canada. The technology that this phone brings to people with Dementia is Outstanding! This phone, has given back to my Dad, the opportunity to connect with us in away he couldn’t do before. Well Done Raz Memory!
Lynn Barry –
I was shopping for a long time to replace my mother’s cell phone, which she struggled to use and couldn’t remember how to operate. I knew what I was looking for – just had to be a phone. She didn’t really need internet access or a camera, just an easy way to contact family members. Raz Memory Phone was the perfect fit for us. She loves it! All she has to do is touch the photo of my father or one of us four kids (all in our 60’s lol), and we’re there. We bought the charging stand too, so she never has to worry about the battery being low. We set the phone to automatically answer and be on speaker phone, so she likes that she just talks from sitting on the couch, or she can say “coming!” from another room, and we can hear her clearly. There are a lot of other thoughtful features as well, but I’d be going on forever. Customer service has been great when we needed help setting up or had questions on operation. I whole-heartedly recommend the Raz Memory Phone for anyone who has cognitive issues.
Steve Snyder (verified owner) –
All the features are great. I already got a notification that the phone was at 20% charge, so I called dad and he plugged into the charger. The only downside is the volume level of the speaker phone is weaker than his previous flip phone. I did exit to the LG system and verify all the volume levels were set to maximum.
JK (verified owner) –
The transition to this phone from GrandPad has been tough for my 93-year-old dad, yet with his blindness and hearing loss it was our best option. His two complaints are the location of the 911 button … he keeps hitting it instead of the picture and the volume … there’s no way to adjust it to be louder and he says it’s “tinny” (not an unusual complaint with his hearing issues). I think it will end up working out better. He’s been successful in having conversations w/ his kids, where the other phone would constantly drop.

The RAZ Memory phone is an excellent concept and good implementation of a phone that primarily allows inbound and outbound calls to specific phone numbers which is intended to block scammers as well as make it easy for the end user to contact loved ones, etc.
It’s the only Android implementation I’ve found that has this capability. You can add more allowed inbound phone numbers but they are “hidden” from the user (which is good) and you can allow a dialing pad to be accessible so the end user can call numbers that are not in the pre-identified allowed outbound phone numbers like maybe a new doctor’s office number. I have one very high priority request: the dialing pad is still under development as of May 2022 and it’s easy to crash out of it so that the end user is unfortunately able to access the built-in Android applications. Please fix the dialing pad so it only allows phone calls to be placed and does not crash out to Android. Fix it ASAP!

My sister is still adjusting to a different phone, although before she called every day to say the old phone was not working correctly. The family is thrilled with the Raz. No more calls at 5 AM. No more phones that are not charged. No more calling phone numbers she sees on TV to change her medical insurance. We have the 911 by worked well the one time she did it. Highly recommend the phone.

This phone is great! My 91 year old husband does not have dementia but he does have limited vision. The RAZ pictures are big enough for him to see.
He loves the phone and when he was in the hospital he called all the contacts. It does have a rather short battery life (needs charging every night) and I wish we could put it to sleep at night. We haven’t had it long, but so far so good.
Joyce Slawson (verified owner) –
The Raz Memory Phone works great for my elderly aunt with dementia. She is also technology challenged and only needs a phone to place and receive calls. We have tried many other phones (mostly flip style) and even those were too complicated for her. This phone is wonderful and I would highly recommend it for any senior.

Reviewing after 2 weeks of use. Easy setup and great assistance received. Wish we had gotten this a year ago. My father is able to easily push the images plus the automatic answering to speaker mode is a great help in monitoring his activity.
Cindy (verified owner) –
This phone is a blessing and the ladies at the Emergency Center are so nice when they get the umpteenth call saying he is lost somewhere when he’s actually in a hospital bed. My one suggestion is please get the wallet cover because since the home screen does not time out, we get a lot of misdials while he is trying to put it in his pocket. Hopefully that will be here today. My 87-year-old father-in-law even said, “Why did nobody make this before? I just want to call somebody.”

My family member who has dementia hasn’t had any issues using this phone, and for me, as her POA, it’s terrific! The phone texts me when her battery is at 20%, so I can call her to put it on the charger, and I love that I have control of all the settings (ringtone, volume, etc.) in the app on my phone, so I don’t have to go to her assisted living home to adjust the settings. We’ve only had the phone for a couple of months, but I’m loving it! Also, their customer service has been awesome! I’ve reached out a few times when deciding whether or not to purchase the phone as well as after I purchased it, and each and every time they were knowledgeable and friendly. Kudos to them, as good customer service is hard to come by these days.

This phone is fabulous for my mom who has dementia. We tried several ‘easy’ and ‘senior’ phones before finding this one. This is the only one she’s been able to use reliably. Being able to control the phone settings from my phone is great; no more deleted contacts or turning her phone off then wondering why it wasn’t working. The phone works well on the T-Mobile network. I had to contact customer service and was shocked to be connected to a person right away. He immediately identified the issue and walked me though how to fix it. The call lasted maybe 5 minutes and there have been zero issues since. I wish we’d found this phone a couple years ago. It would have saved both mom and family members a lot of frustration.

I purchased this phone for my mom who has dementia. When her old phone broke, we knew that a new cell would be too complicated for her to learn. She figured out this phone immediately. She called me over and over the first day to tell me that she didn’t understand how to use it, and I had to remind her that she had called me and was talking to me on the phone, so she figured it out just fine. The only issue we’ve had is that my mom likes to carry the phone with her all the time and sometimes leaves her finger on a contact just long enough to dial accidently. We may change how to dial but for now, it’s fine.

This phone overall is great. I bought it for my grandmother who recently was diagnosed with early stages of dementia. Her phone (iPhone) became to confusing for her to use. This phone solved that. It is simple. We did change the tap and dial feature to a tap and hold because she was calling people a little to easily. Even picking up the phone was dialing people. My main complain is the screen is always on. Which In thought is great. But in execution is a little annoying. It can cause unwanted phone calls to people just by putting the phone in a purse or moving the phone from one place to another. It also drains the battery quickly.

Second time reviewing: My father has had this phone for a year now and we continue to have GREAT customer service and support. It is truly the best phone for him, having dementia. I like that I control the portal (easy to make changes, if needed) and see what’s going on, so no added confusion to him. There’s been some updates within this past year that have been an added bonus.

I am so glad I found you all! My mom has dementia and was having a harder and harder time with her iPhone. I heard about Raz on an Alzheimer’s zoom meeting. Looked them up and it sounded perfect. I love that I can add numbers for her. I love that I can disable the dial pad. Mom is so happy with it and loved the photographs of her friends and family. I had a few questions while setting up the phone and the help line was very available. Thank you for this phone.

Selected the Memory phone for my aunt who has never been tech savvy, as well as experiencing some cognitive decline. This phone is so simple to use! Very basic compared to other senior phones as it basically is “just a phone”, but for a senior who thinks of landlines as “real phones”, and never used email, it is just right. It has the added benefit of allowing me to manage remotely which is great since I live a distance away so when she needs “tech support” from the family she is more willing to reach out since it feels like less of an imposition. It also allows me to monitor when she doesn’t pick up as I can see if she has remembered to recharge, or it the phone has been turned off. (Yes, she is the type who stores her turned off phone in her purse since she isn’t using it) Haven’t changed the settings yet to not turn off as we are encouraging her to take the phone everywhere and don’t want it to ring during church services.
The wallet case is very useful to prevent accidental dialing. And the power cord designed like a landline coil is genius.
One improvement request…. the ability to add WIFI signal to improve signal reception. Especially important in assisted living and hospital settings where cell signals may be weak.

This phone has been perfect for my mother who just could not handle a smart phone and all the screens and options. It is easy to use and not confusing to her. I like that I can monitor it from my phone.
Paige (verified owner) –
I am really pleased with this phone, it has made it much easier for my Aunt to make calls. While there’s no perfect answer to getting an elderly person with Alzheimer’s to use a phone, this one comes pretty close! I especially like being able to add contacts to it remotely. I have also needed to contact customer service twice now and both times they new exactly what to do and were very helpful!

The RAZ Memory Phone has reduced my Dad’s level of frustration tremendously. There were too many apps and buttons on his old smartphone that kept him confused.

We were looking for this phone to help my father, who has zero technical skills and severe hand tremors. Living on his own, when the power goes out in his home, he has no way to contact anyone for help. This phone completely solves this issue for us. The picture identifiers are fantastic as he cannot enter numbers, and the ability for me to program, manage calls and add/limit contacts for him is wonderful. I have taken advantage of the ability to push through reminders for him to take his medications as well. The emergency monitoring feature gives me the peace of mind that he can access someone immediately who then contacts me when 911 is not needed. The setup was easy and when I needed to contact technical support to make a slight change, they were quick, very kind and the phone call took less than 5 minutes! I love this phone and would recommend it to anyone looking for help for their elderly parent.
Joey Colbert (verified owner) –
This phone is amazing. The people behind it have thought of everything—things that I wouldn’t have even considered. We purchased this for a family member after he couldn’t figure out how to use his “regular” phone any longer (our finding it with over 200 missed calls and messages!). It turns out that even the RAZ Memory Phone is too much for him. I find it not sitting on the charging pad, the charging pad unplugged, getting calls from him when he didn’t mean to call, etc. BUT he feels connected and likes to see it there on his bedside table. I love the auto-answer feature (as he does, although difficult to get used to on his end), the quiet time option, the limited contacts on one screen, the ease to call. Really it’s a super phone!
The two times I had to contact customer service during the first week went smoothly and my concerns were addressed swiftly and politely. I highly recommend this phone for those who need it.
Dave (verified owner) –
While this is a GREAT idea, I believe the phone is too big (very long) and you cannot make calls to most doctor’s offices because you cannot use the menu system (press 1 for this, 2 for that, etc) because, even with the dial pad enabled, there is no way to get it to show after the call is placed. My mother has dementia but is in the early stages for now and we presented this as a “simpler phone” that is easier to use than her Samsung, but it is too simple right now and she feels it is demeaning to her. It would be great if there were different levels that were offered so anyone with issues related to complicated phones would feel more comfortable in the early stages and keep it through their progression with more and more abilities hidden. I would pay twice as much for a phone like this.

I am giddy with excitement after receiving and setting up the RAZ Memory Cell Phone for my husband who has dementia/Alzheimer’s. Instead of having to try to remember confusing sequences of buttons to push just to answer or make a call, he can now find the picture of the person he wants to speak to and press the picture to be connected or easily see who is calling. No more trying to figure out how to turn the phone on or how to find a contact or how to answer an incoming call! We were able to keep our current Tracfone pre-paid plan and his telephone number; the set-up was easy, and once the phone was fully charged he was able to place a call by himself as well as answer an incoming call easily. At least for now, I know I can leave the house for a bit, knowing that he can easily phone me if he feels the need. It was very frustrating for him when he couldn’t answer the phone if it rang, or not be able to call someone unless I helped him. I fully recommend this phone to anyone with memory problems.

I’ll begin by saying that this phone has been an extraordinary and positive addition to the home of my stroke afflicted friend. She is now forced to use only her left (not dominant) hand, which has caused her MUCH consternation. RAZ has allowed her to resume communications with family and friends. SO WONDERFUL! However, I have not been able to get answers to some operational questions thru the company support. Texting did not get results, so I will submit my questions about auto answer thru another available method. Also, I believed that I paid an extra amount to have a phone and SIM card that would work on Verizon. When the phone arrived, I had to replace the SIM card to make it operational. I’m still not sure if I received the wrong phone or if I misunderstood during the ordering process. I will be making further inquiries.

This phone is a great help for my 94 year old mom! She used to be very good on her iPhone, but she has Alzheimer’s now and trying to use her iPhone has been a constant source of stress for her. She is delighted with her ability to simply touch a family member’s face on the screen and reach them. She shows it to everyone she runs into in her assisted living facility and tells them her daughter invented it – and then tells me I should patent it. When I explain that RAZ Mobility most definitely already has the patent on it, she insists I should get the credit. Anyway – all good things to say about this invention!

I like having the ability to see calls being made and received. The set up was easy and mom is able to use this phone much easier than her old I Phone. I’m looking forward to the App update where the names and pictures aren’t always on the screen and the screen will go black. She’s always playing with the phone and accidentally calling contacts.

The RAZ Memory phone is a good option for people with dementia. My mother has dementia, and is unable to complete simple tasks. She struggles to use basic things like a phone. It’s very nice that I can control who she can call, and who can call her. I can also see a log of all of her incoming, outgoing and missed calls. There are a few different options of ways the user can make a call. My mother couldn’t figure out how to make a call with the press and hold option, and she also couldn’t make a call with the double tap. I have had to set it to make a call with a single tap. Unfortunately, because of this, she frequently makes accidental calls. There are a couple of other options/improvements that I would like to see. One is for a setting for the tap and hold option that would make it so she didn’t have to hold it as long, but a little longer than a a tap in order to make a phone call. The other more important improvement would be that the user could swipe to answer a call. Since a lot of cell phones are set up to swipe to answer, it seems like that would be a better option of a way to answer a call. She tries to swipe to answer a call, but is unsuccessful. Also, it would be nice it the GPS was more accurate. It usually shows that her phone has been about a mile from her house, when I know it hasn’t left her house. The only other issue is that the battery doesn’t last very long since the screen is always on, but I would rather have the screen always on. She was not able to figure out how to turn on the screen of her old cell phone, so having the screen stay on all of the time is beneficial.

Hello Ranae,
Thank you so much for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that you and your mother have adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone.
One feature that can further help prevent accidental calls is the Call confirmation screen. When enabled, it prompts the user with a pop-up asking them to confirm the call by tapping “Yes.” To activate this feature, go to Settings > Show Call confirmation screen in the RAZ Care app.

This phone was purchased for my Mom who is 100 yrs old and resides in an assisted living facility. The photos of her contacts are large and the volume for the speaker is good. This phone has been very helpful for my Dad and his dementia. It gives us peace of mind that he can call easily. I really like that I can manage and monitor it from home with the app.
The only issue he has had is when he tries to answer phone calls. Since he pushes the picture to make phone calls, he tries to push the picture to answer calls as well, as opposed to using the green ‘answer’ button. So, frequently he isn’t able to answer the phone on time, and ends up calling us back. I wish there was an option to answer the phone by pushing the picture.
Overall, it has been very helpful.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Lisa,
Thank you so much for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that your dad has adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone.
We recommend trying the Auto-answer feature. When enabled, phone calls and video calls are automatically answered after a few rings and go directly to speaker. This way, your dad doesn’t need to press “Answer.” To activate this feature, open the RAZ Care app and go to Settings > General > Auto-answer.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’re always happy to help!

We purchased this phone for our mother recently and so far it seems to be fine. It is great that there can be 3 caregivers to help manage the phone use. Being able to set quiet hours individually, is also a nice feature. The call history feature is great to monitor use and make sure the phone is being used. We hope it continues to be helpful.

I tried a cheaper phone called “easyphone”. I basically wasted my money on it. So I did more research and came across the RAZ Mobility phone. It costed more, but it sure did not disappoint! What good is a cheaper phone if you can’t use it! The RAZ works perfectly for our needs! My sister has lost her memory, including how to use a phone. With the RAZ, she doesn’t need to know how to use a phone! We just set it to automatically answer calls and put the call on speaker. It works great! And for making calls, she just pushes the picture and it dials and goes to speaker phone. I am very happy with our purchase!

I was so glad to find this memory cell phone. It is wonderful and makes things so much easier for the elderly who have trouble using a regular cell phone. It is also great that the caregiver and two others can look at the phones functions and change the setting in the app and see how the person is using the phone. I have recommended the product to others who were unaware that such a phone existed. Great product.
Bruce L (verified owner) –
I bought this phone along with a case and wireless charger for my brother, who owned an android phone for many years, and who was constantly making the phone inoperable by changing volume, putting into airplane mode, and other settings. Someone (usually me) had to take an hour or two several times a week to drive over to fix the phone so he could use it or so he could hear us or we could hear him. As for the web features of his old phone, he could never get it, despite my creating icons and trying to simplify it for him. This new memory phone takes away all the complexity and his ability to change settings or even turn it off. To make calls he presses a large picture. To answer a call he hits a large green box. It was easy for him to use and learn. I can see a history of his calls. I set the hours when he can only call me, and if he tries to make other calls, a message in my voice reminds him he can call me if there is an emergency. Obviously the people at Raz listened well to users and caregivers, and they nailed a great solution at a really reasonable price.

Phone, accessories, and app are all GREAT, have been using for about 4 years now. just ordered a new phone, speedy service and my elderly Uncle with Dementia uses it very often. Besides the product- the customer service was OVER THE TOP OUTSTANDING! Within hours of me ordering a new phone ( old one dropped in toilet 🙂 ) Customer service emailed and texted me to ask clarifying questions on why I needed a new phone, did I need a SIM Card, was the phone functioning. They were not just trying to sell me a product, they wanted to know if the phone had an issue and could they fix it. We corresponded several times and I asked about new features, which they promptly replied and explained. Also providing alternative solutions if required my specific needs. I would give them 6 out of 5 stars if I could. You very seldom get that type of customer service.

Everything about this phone is great. Would recommend. Very easy for the person with dementia. Very easy set up.
Adam Levin (verified owner) –
Set up is done from a caregivers phone, not the actual unit, which was confusing at first. After contacting RAZ and getting all set up, I really like the customization through the caregiver app.
John Inholt (verified owner) –
This phone is great. I highly recommend getting the case, my Mother when holding it would be touching the screen which made it difficult for her to tap the names. The case made it so her hands were not touching the screen.

Mom is 100 and lives in an area where her home phone goes out often. Cell phone is essential. 2 other “senior” or “dementia” phones failed because she couldn’t work them. She can work the Raz phone. She says she doesn’t know what she’s doing, but somehow still manages to make and receive calls because the Raz is so intuitive.
Also the support team has been absolutely phenomenal in answering questions and helping with phone set up.
Larry Asher –
Kudos to the designers of this phone and software who really thought about the cognitive skills of the user. It’s a superb, almost fool-proof design, and it’s amazing to me that Google and Apple don’t offer versions of the OS with similar features. But, until they do, this is an excellent product from people who treat memory and cognitively challenged people as their main focus.

Easy to use. Care giver gets timely information ie: reminder phone needs charging.

This phone is genius. It was easy to set up. Swap sim cards, install the app on our smartphone, have family send you selfies, upload and off you go. Amazingly easy. The one drawback is that while picking up the phone my mother would accidentally make calls. Which is OK until I found the quiet hours feature. SMS text support was prompt and helpful.

My 96 year old mother has successfully talked to me on this phone! More than once! She removed the batteries of her last flip phone and left them hanging out in an attempt to figure out how to use it. The Raz Memory phone allows us to communicate again from 500 miles apart. The best feature for us is automatic answering. After two rings, the phone answers and I just start talking … if she is near the phone she replies and we chat. If not, I call again later. She hasn’t called me yet in real life but she made many practice calls successfully while I was teaching her how to use it. I’m happy with the phone and I’m glad I bought it. Things to Improve: video call quality is glitchy and my mom found it hard to hold the phone where I could see her on camera. We are sticking to voice calls only for now. Another thing that would be nice: allow Quiet Hours to be different for each contact. We all have different hours when we would like to not be disturbed so it would be great if the quiet hours were customizable. Overall, a very helpful device for people with memory and cognitive deficits.

We got this for my 92 year old mom with MD. Her vision is very poor. She was so excited how large the names were. She can actually see them without her magnifying glass. We got the case in orange so she doesn’t accidentally hit any buttons and can see the bright orange. Works great. We also got the charging pad so she doesn’t have to try to plug in a charger. Worth the little extra cost. We are very pleased with the whole system.

This Raz phone has been a godsend! The features are on point! The auto answer, ability to make a call by touching a photo, and the incoming call restrictions eliminating spam calls, and the lack of unneeded apps make this the perfect phone for my 93 year old mother. Thank you for creating this basic phone!!

This phone is just what we needed for my parents who are 90 and 91. They are in assisted living with no land line and could not make calls or even answer their cell phone. Now they can call me when they need to. I love being able to control the phone through the app and no more 6 am phone calls because my dad was fiddling with the phone. Setup was simple and customer support was quick and very helpful. Staff at the assisted living said many families are going to want this phone and they were trying to get brochures to pass along.

Great phone for my mom who has severe dementia. Only thing I would change is I would like to have the main screen to be able to lock. She puts the phone in her purse and hits the contact and it calls. We had to put the phone to the push and hold and she had trouble with that. Otherwise, great phone
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Lisa,
Thank you so much for your feedback!
Here are a few adjustments that may help with the situations you mentioned:
– Enable the Auto-lock feature. When this is active, the display will go dark after 2 minutes of inactivity and wake up with movement.
– Turn on the Call Confirmation screen. This will show a popup after a contact is tapped, asking the senior to confirm before placing the call.
– Try different call activation methods. Options like Double Tap, Tap & Hold, or Tap & Hold Long can help prevent accidental calls.
You will find all these options in the Settings section of the RAZ Care app.
Additionally, consider the Wallet Case. It not only protects the phone but also helps prevent unintentional touches on the screen.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’ll be happy to help! 🙂

My mom loves the simplicity of this phone. I love the simplicity of the app to control the phone. So happy we found this phone for her.

This phone is so easy to use that my non- tech 82 yr old mom with dementia was able to figure out how to use it! This has been a god send, especially with being able to control contacts from my phone. I haven’t seen anything else like this phone on the market. Customer service was also outstanding. I am so happy to have found it.

Love the phone. The best feature we set up is having our voice start talking after one ring (Verizon feature). She uses a walker in an apartment and instead of hurrying to get to the phone, we can start talking to her after just one ring. The phone is always set to speaker, and she often doesn’t even need to get up to have the whole conversation, or she can take her time getting to the phone. Mom chose to keep her iPhone for pictures and email, but the orange phone (bought the orange cover which is great)quickly became her go-to for family calls. I just had to train the family to start talking right away and tell her to pick up the orange phone, just to call back if she doesn’t pick up (she is either at an activity on on the phone), and never to text – which she has struggled with on many levels anyway. It does just what she needs and nothing more. I call it her land line. We bought the curly cord and put the phone in central place where it just stays plugged in . Brilliant.
Paula –
We purchased the RAZ Memory phone when our mother, who has moderate dementia locked herself out of her apple phone and we lost all photos and contacts which were stored there! Our Mom has been able to use the phone to make calls and to receive calls. The caregiver app has been terrific, enabling us to assist Mom in keeping the phone charged, and to support her in the use of the phone. The support has been wonderful – those taking the calls are knowledgeable, and have each and every time been able to assist us. We found that a charging stand helps manage the short battery charge issue (while our mother was bedridden a charger with a “long” cord was also a good solution). The support is fantastic — I only wish they had later hours for those of us in the pacific time zone.

This is a great phone for persons with limited vision, hearing and memory. The setup makes so easy for caregivers.
Dale (verified owner) –
This phone is a very good phone for people with memory issues. In addition for people that have arthritic or numb fingers the touch contact dialing is perfect, and the locked volume feature ends the accidental turning the volume down causing missed calls. The allowed contact list ends spam calls, ending concerns that an elderly or memory impaired person might agree to fraudulent spam callers. The reason for the 4-stars instead of 5 is because I also ordered the stand charger and the phone did not charge on the charger. I returned the stand charger and requesting a refund.
RAZ Mobility Team –

This phone works very well for my mother whose dementia is getting worse quickly. She really likes seeing the faces! I do have two things that I wish were better – the battery life and the number of rings before the call goes to “voicemail” which does not exist on my mother’s phone. The battery barely lasts 24 hours, which is considerably shorter than her old phone. And when she gets a call, by the time she gets to her phone and picks it up, usually it’s already too late to answer. I wish there was a way to increase the number of rings. The “auto answer” feature seemed like the way to go with it, but it rarely rang more than once before it automatically answered, and it proved to be confusing to both my mother and the caller. Maybe we’ll have to give it another try.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Tamera,
Thank you for your feedback! Since you purchased your mother’s RAZ Memory Cell Phone, we’ve released quite a few updates 🙂
You can now enable voicemail access through the RAZ Care app. To adjust the number of rings before a call goes to voicemail, we recommend reaching out to your wireless provider.
We’ve also increased the number of rings for the Auto-answer feature, which should be very helpful in this case.
As for battery life, due to the phone’s unique design and constant availability, it may be somewhat shorter than a typical cell phone. We recommend making daily charging part of your routine—just like with any other phone.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’ll be happy to help!

The best phone for people with dementia that keep getting scammed. This phone has been a lifesaver for us. The screen is a bit sensitive, so we do get a lot of calls, but it is getting better. I highly recommend getting the case immediately as that helps. The set up was simple as well. It did stress out our LO the first few days as he went from a flip phone to this but he’s getting used to it. Best decision we ever made.

We purchased this phone for my mom (85). She had never had a touch screen phone before. She has a little trouble with it from time to time, but that really isn’t unexpected. She has Parkinson’s and hand injury, so finding the right touch balance has been tricky. On one setting, she can’t make calls easily, on another, she makes them too easily! In certain situations, it has been nice to turn on the “quiet hours”. I like the caregiver app. The video call has been helpful, along with the auto answer. The only thing that we have trouble with is the wireless charging that we bought. It has not worked well for us. While staying in a facility, a staff member removed the port plug and charged it with a cable because they couldn’t get it to stay situated wirelessly. Then the port insert went missing entirely, so we can’t charge it wirelessly at all. So it just ended up being a waste of money for us.

My husband has slowly advancing Alzheimer’s and lives in an excellent long-term care facility. He always loved talking to me and other family members on his smartphone that he used for more than 10 years. When it finally gave out, he struggled not having a way to call me when he wanted. I found RAZ Mobility and decided it was worth the $350 cost to provide him with a simple phone that his current mental abilities would allow him to independently make and receive phone calls. The RAZ Mobility phone does exactly that. He’s very happy with his new hone which makes me happy. Thank you for inventing this phone for those with failing memory and mental processing issues. It gives my husband a bit of independence in his slowly shrinking world and adds joy to his life and to mine.

we purchased this phone for my brother-in-law. He is mentally disabled since birth and has cognitive issues where he cannot dial a phone. We tried a conventional phone and he was unable to use as the phone would time out before he finished dialing. He lives alone and this has worked perfectly. He can dial with 1-touch and with the wireless cradle we don’t have to worry about the phone being charged. Recently we received a text that his phone had a low battery and when we visited him we were able to fix the issue. We like this phone. He even likes it and feels more secure since he can dial immediately if needed.

We bought this phone for my husband, who had a stroke in 2022. Although he has had remarkable progress in his recovery, he has issues with aphasia, cognition and short-term memory. The phone seems easy to use, however we have made several “butt calls” by accidentally touching the screen and the call was made without a chance to cancel it before it called a contact. I wish there were a pause where it says something like, “ do you want to call John” before it makes the call. Also, we find it difficult to plug in the charging corrd, so I am ordering the automatic charging pad, as well as the protective case. We have been busy with holiday activities, and have not yet looked into any features other than voice calls. We do find that the battery doesn’t last very long, so the automatic charging pad will be a big help. After we get used to using it, I’m sure it will give us peace of mind when we need to communicate while we’re apart.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Linda,
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that you and your husband have adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone.
We also have some good news: through the RAZ Care app, you can enable the Call confirmation screen. When this feature is turned on, the phone will display a popup after a contact is tapped, asking the user to confirm before placing the call.
We also recommend trying other call activation methods, such as Double tap, Tap & hold, and Tap & hold Long. Each method can be tested directly in the RAZ Care app.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’ll be happy to help! 🙂

We bought this for my father in law who has lewy body dementia. Overall, the product is pretty solid and the app works well. We live in Canada and set the phone up with Koodo which seems to be compatible with the device and app. There are a few things to be aware of if you are a Canadian and plan to purchase this device.
1. By the time you buy the phone, case, duites and emergency tag you are looking at close to $600.00 Canadian after taxes and currency exchange.
2. There is no way to disable the 911 calling on the phone and the subscription to divert the calls is not available in Canada due to legal implications. This is problematic if your loved one has periods of panic/hallucinations and feels they need help when they actually do not. We were able to cover the display so that the ability to call is less tempting, however the possibility of a false call is still very possible.
These factors are the only reason I rated it 4 stars.

Hi Clarke! Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate it and we’re glad to know the RAZ Memory Cell Phone has been useful for your loved one.
Regarding the accidental emergency calls, we have good news! Caregivers can now choose the best method for their seniors from these three options through the RAZ Care app:
1) Keep the emergency button at the top of the screen, as it is now.
2) Set emergency services as a contact (with the option to choose the position of the contact icon to avoid it being at the top).
3) Use the regular keypad only, requiring the senior to manually dial the emergency number.
To update your RAZ Memory Cell Phone, please reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083.
To update your RAZ Care app, visit the App store or Google Play and download the latest version.

This is by far the best cell phone solution for those with dementia that I have seen. My mother was no longer have her Jitterbug flip phone. I had two issues the first day:
1. My mom accidentally turned the phone off. I called tech support and they were able to remotely disable the power button. It was be nice if the caregiver could do this via the app.
2. My mom accidentally called 911. The banner is at the top of the phone screen. My mom is at a skilled nursing facility and has no need to have access to 911. It wouldbe good if the caregiver could disable the 911 banner in the app. For $99 per year 911 calls can be routed to a private vendor, but for those on assisted communities this extra fee should be be needed to the disable 911 calls.

Great phone. Ordered for my SO who had a stroke and has aphasia. Been a lifesaver. He is able to operate phone and has gain a sense of independence. Wonderful assistance from customer service setting phone up. Only downside- battery life very short as opposed to a “regular “ cell.

Hi Mary,
Thank you for your kind words! We’re happy to hear that.

Wonderful phone for my mom. Easy to use, she doesn’t get confused and she can always connect to who she wants to (and I can block her calling people in the middle of the night). I also do not worry that a scammer will call her.
Stacia Willier (verified owner) –
The RAZ Memory phone is a great option for my mother who has dementia and can not understand anymore, but still wants a phone. Three things to note:
1) The phone case with the cover on it is necessary to prevent accidental phone calls. I originally bought the case that “covered the power buttons” so she couldn’t accidently turn it off, but she could not even pick it up with out accidently calling someone or worse, 911. Even I had to be very careful how I picked it up with the regular phone case on it. So I went back to the website and ordered the bright orange phone case with the front cover, which also covers the power button to prevent accidental button pushing and it has been wonderful. Not only prevents unwanted outgoing calls, but is a bright orange color that is not easily overlooked. I only wish I would have known so I didn’t waste $20 on the first one.
2) Sadly, one has to subscribe to the emergency services service due to accidentally pressing the big 911 red button up on top. There is no way to hide that button and when I brought this phone over to my mom within one hour she had already called 911. It is worth the extra $10 for the subscription fee to avoid the accidental emergency calls.
3) We had lots of problems setting the phone up and it turns out you have to call the IT help number for help if your RAZ phone wont accept the changes from the caregivers app. The guy that helped us said there wasn’t anything we could have done to fix the problem, he had to fix it on his end. Since set up we have not had a problem at all and the phone has been a great addition to everyday life.
Overall I would recommend this phone for seniors with memory disabilities.

2) Tap & hold long
3) Double tap
4) Single tap
This allows you to find the method that best suits your mother’s needs and abilities, reducing the likelihood of accidental calls.

The phone is great – my client can actually use it! It’s a little difficult that the battery burns so quickly, but I trust it’s the tradeoff for the phone screen always being “on” for clients to use it easily.

Had doubts that this would work for my father in-law who required buttons for his phone. But our initial experience seems to show that difficult part of modern phone for him isn’t the lack of buttons but the interface is designed for the younger generation. We set the phone up and ship it to him and he is using it without much input/guidance from me. Success! Thus, I recommend the phone setup for anyone that wants/needed a modern phone with a greatly simplified interface. There are few features that I wish that I had more control but it is what it is. RAZ – please make easier to move contacts to and from screen to list, and I would love it even more if T-Mobile screen sleep issue could be resolved. Other features like GPS location and phone health are also useful since I can see the phone is alive before a call is placed.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Jinho!
Thank you for your feedback, we truly appreciate it. That’s what motivates us to keep improving 🙂
To add or edit contacts on the RAZ Memory Cell Phone, simply use the RAZ Care app. The phone must be connected to wireless service with its SIM card for any changes made in the caregiver app to take effect.
When creating a contact, you can also choose its position on the Memory Phone screen. For example, if you set a contact as “1”, it will appear as the first contact on your senior’s list.

Just purchased the RAZ Mobility Memory Cell phone couple weeks ago for my elderly mom with Dementia and poor vision. Caregiver App is great to have to have that visibility of battery charge, incoming phone calls, etc. but there are a couple of problems with the phone that is preventing me from rating 5 star. One major issue so far is the battery life. Mom does not have the ability to charge the phone and the charge on the phone will not even hold for 24-hour period. Another problem is the Emergency 911 button. Too prominent on the main contact screen and mom with her poor vision has accidentally called 911 more than once already.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Rob,
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that your mother has adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone.
Since you purchased the phone, we’ve added great new options for managing the Emergency button. Caregivers can now choose the emergency calling method that works best for their senior through the RAZ Care app:
1) Keep the Emergency button at the top of the screen (default).
2) Add emergency services as a contact and place it anywhere on the screen (not necessarily at the top).
3) Remove the Emergency button entirely and require manual dialing using the keypad.
Regarding battery life: due to the phone’s unique design and constant availability, its battery life is somewhat shorter than that of a regular smartphone. We recommend daily charging as part of the routine, just like with any other phone.
You can also enable charging reminders through the RAZ Care app. These will appear on your mother’s Memory Phone when the battery is low. Additionally, you can opt to receive a text message alert when the battery drops below 20%.
If you need any assistance, feel free to reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’re happy to help!

I was searching for a simpler solution for my father who is almost 89 years old. He was having difficulty making calls and always seemed to press the wrong buttons and would have people on hold or mute. He had lost the ability to text from his phone already and it was becoming more difficult to make calls. Then I searched on line and found RAZ Memory Phone and watched some videos of how it worked. The caregiver app appealed to me because of all the options and solutions to manage the hours he could make calls to some people. I didn’t mind him calling me at 1:30am thinking he had missed lunch but I’m sure his other friends would have wanted to block him from calling if this became a continual issue. I ordered it and it was delivered on time just like advertised. No trouble to set up and easily to operate! I am also glad I got the phone case to keep him from accidentally hitting the volume or on/off button. This phone has been the answer I was looking for! I really like that I can video call him from the app and also set it to auto answer if he doesn’t respond to my first call Thank you!

I am very happy with the RAZ Mobility phone I purchased for my 90 year old mother to use. I appreciate the oversight it gives me so that I can help her to stay in touch with family and friends. One problem that it has solved is that she was often accidentally silencing her prior cell phone so that I was unable to reach her.

I recently purchased this phone for my 91 year old Aunt that has Rheumatoid Arthritis, Macular Degeneration along with early onset Alzheimer’s and was struggling with her Android. I think it is a great fit – yet she is still struggling. I think it has more to do with her 91 year old mental capacity than the phone. I would say – it would be nice to remove the Emergency 911 from the home screen. I love how simple it is to use and that we can change how she dials out. Having to touch and hold has eliminated some unnecessary calls. We also went with the tilted charging station and I think this is huge. She definitely struggles with plugging it in and now she can just place it in the cradle.

I purchased this phone for my loved one in memory care. TMobile set it up with a free SIM card and waived activation. It has been easy for him to use. He calls alot, not remembering that he called 5 minutes ago. I like that I can manage quiet hours from my phone and remind him to charge it. I also like the feeling of connection and independence it gives to him. It gives me peace of mind to know that he cannot receive predatory phone calls or call out to potential predators.
I would love to be able to text him with this phone and hope that might be added in the future.
I also would love to be able to hide the 911 button since he is in a facility.

We have been looking and looking for a phone that our 80-year-old developmentally disabled family member with hearing issues could manage and successfully use. A smart phone with all the apps was way too complex and stressed her out. She couldn’t hear on a flip phone. This phone is PERFECT for her needs. She has a large family and a team of people at an agency that help her, so we are using all 30 contact spots. (If there is anything we could ask for it would be to allow more contacts.) She loves the simple green and red steps to follow to answer and hang up calls. She loves that she doesn’t get spam calls anymore. She loves that she just has to look at the front screen to choose her contact instead of having to try to open apps. She loves that I get a notification if her battery is low and can let her know. And she loves that she can hear people on a cell phone again. (I keep it on speaker mode for her, something we couldn’t do with regular Smart Phones because she’d change it.) I can’t believe we finally found a phone that works. It’s a huge relief for her entire family and her friends and staff at her agency. THANK YOU!

Great phone for dementia users. Staff support is top notch. They’ve always done their best to solve a problem. I have the phone set up for restricted dialing (quiet hours) between 9am and 8pm to avoid middle of the night calls to non caregivers. I set up the outgoing msg to say this phone doesn’t monitor the voice-mail & to call again later. I set it up for double taps to call or hang up for less frequent pocket dialing. No speaker phone option but when talking to the “patient,” the speaker is loud enough that the caregiver or nurse can hear me on the other end almost like a speaker call… like if they need to interrupt. The hands-free charging station (sold separate) is much easier to use than having the person delicately plug the charging cord into the phone. After I saw that 9-1-1 staff had returned the patient’s call, I phoned them to advise them that the caller from the # I provided them had dementia. I also gave them my phone number as back up. They were familiar with the Raz phone. Great phone all around & since I already had TMobile service, it’s costing only $10 a month for this extra line. GPS is handy if the phone is lost & still has battery. Call the phone to locate it. I’ve looked — there’s no other phone with these features for those with cognitive Impairment. And yes, there’s a really nice quality book style case to avoid pocket calls. It’s a separate purchase thru Raz along with the cordless charger. Lastly, I set the phone up to hide the dial pad, and only 6 auto dial numbers (with faces) to avoid random calls and scams. No, I don’t work for Raz. I’m caring for someone with advanced dementia who really benefits from being connected to family & friends.

Very helpful phone, that addressed many of the issue we were having with spam calls. My only problem has been with keeping the phone charged. I find that the phone discharges VERY quickly — 24 hours or less, even though my Mom is not making any calls. And once the phone gets completely discharged, it has to be re-set with a physical button-press on the phone. That means that my brother and I have to make a trip every time this happens, even if my Mom recharges the phone. Would be great if the phone could re-start without the button press being required (once it gets re-charged). We also purchased the wireless charging pad, which is helpful, but my Mom usually puts the phone onto the pad upside-down. Would be better if there was only one “right” way to set the phone on the pad. The current design is not dementia-friendly.

This fits the bill!…and the Grandpa. His smart phone was too much and constantly accidentally getting disabled in various ways. This bulletproof phone is the best. All the features are working great. We tried the single tap dialing, but 911 got accidentally called twice, so we changed it to fast double tap. I’ve noticed the GPS tracking can be a bit delayed for some reason. I’ve not looked, but if it’s not on your website anywhere, it would be good to know how much mobile data is needed each month to cover subscriptions for less than unlimited. I just noticed today there’s no touchpad available when calling your cell’s number to get voicemail, so you can’t enter PINs and such.

This phone is perfect for elders with Dementia. My mother can still make calls if she wants, but doesn’t have to dial. The only thing I would recommend changing is to make a way to blacken the screen. My mom cannot put the phone in and out of the folding case without pressing buttons. However, if you did make the screen “sleep”, she may never figure out how to turn it back on. The folding case is certainly a great way to prevent pushing buttons. I take it out of the folding case at night to charge it and I put it back in the folding case in the morning.

We appreciate the simplicity of this phone, now we just have to get my MIL to recognize it as hers. It is much larger than we expected and does not easily fit in a pocket so we are trying to work out someway for her to keep it close. She hasn’t carried a purse in a long time. We are trying a Fanny pack but she doesn’t like keeping it on. The orange cover helps with the miss dials, especially to 911, and for us to find it. Overall, we are very happy with the phone. If we could make changes it would be a slightly smaller phone, the option for the 911 button to be in a different place, and the gps tracker to be more accurate. She is a walker and every 15 mins can be too long.

Your support team are great. and I’m very happy with the simple operation of the phone it has solved all of problems my mother was having trying to use a simple flip phone. great product.

This is EXACTLY what we have been looking for for our aging mother. It was super simple to set up through our wireless carrier (Verizon) and also simple to set it up for her to use. There are a few things about it that could be improved, but nothing that would make me give it less stars or not recommend it to other people looking for the right phone for an aging or impaired friend or family member. One of the improvements that could be made is battery life, but I highly recommend getting the wireless charging pad. I use the setting to let her know the phone needs charging and it also let’s me know so I can try to get her to charge it or ask one of her home health nurses to charge it when they check on her. The call buttons are very sensitive and we have tried different settings to prevent this, but they just didn’t work for her cognitive ability. So we get a few unintentional calls, but it is not a major problem. Overall, I highly recommend this phone for desperate care takers looking for a form of communication with their loved ones.

So far, the cell phone is exactly what we needed for our 96 year old mother. It is SO easy for her to use. She is doing a great job using the phone. We purchased the flat charging bed so that she did not have to find that little plug on the phone. It is great that we can see if she is charging it or not : ) Thanks for such a great phone. Just wish it were not so expensive for the seniors who really need it.

The RAZ memory phone was purchased 90-year-old Dad that has dementia that recently became much worse after a heart-attack. He was having difficulty operating his flip phone. The design of using photos for user to select who they want to contact is great! The remote caregiver setup is easy and convenient. Quiet hours is ideal as my Dad recently entered a board & care and has a roommate. So the quiet hours ensures others are not disturbed. The call log gives me an idea of whether he may be having any difficulty with the phone and whether he is obsessively dialing his girlfriend. The 911 caregiver notification is helpful. However, I hope you can soon offer a phone without the 911 option. For those in board & care, etc. there is no need for 911 option. I’m going to try placing masking tape on the 911 section- hoping that it provides enough resistance so it won’t dial 911 when accidentally touched. Thanks for designing a good phone that can become great in the future with suggested changes!

Hello Karen! Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate it. We’re glad to hear that your father has adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone and that its features have been helpful for you!
The RAZ Emergency Service is crucial for addressing imagined emergencies, carefully handling each situation while reducing strain on emergency services phone lines. However, if you believe your senior doesn’t need this feature, we’ve developed a solution: caregivers can now choose the best method for their seniors from these three options through the RAZ Care app:
1) Keep the emergency button at the top of the screen, as it is now.
2) Set emergency services as a contact (with the option to choose the position of the contact icon to avoid it being at the top).
3) Use the regular keypad only, requiring the senior to manually dial the emergency number.
To update your RAZ Memory Cell Phone, please reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083.
To update your RAZ Care app, visit the App store or Google Play and download the latest version.

So far so good.
A little trouble with the quiet hours personal announcement.
Mom would like the icons at the top of the phone that display the battery life, time and day, to be larger.
She would also like it to display the date.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Wendy,
Thank you for your feedback, it truly means a lot to us!
The RAZ Memory Cell Phone can display the date at the top of the screen. You can enable this feature through the RAZ Care app:
Go to Settings > General > Show month and date.
You can also type “date” into the search bar at the top of the app to find the option more easily.
If you need any assistance, feel free to contact our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’re happy to help!

So happy I found this phone for my mom who is in memory care. She is so proud to have a phone and she understands how to use it. I am thrilled that I control everything. She knows if someone calls and she doesn’t answer the call that person will call back. She isn’t upset that she can’t call them back. Her having this lifeline has made her very happy.

My 92 year old mother who hates technology and disliked every cell phone she ever tried LOVES this phone. She easily uses the tap on the picture to make a call feature.

This phone is amazing! We recently moved my 85 year old mom with dementia to a care center and now she is able to call when she wants. I can limit the hours she is able to call so no more 2:30 a.m. phone calls and I can limit her incoming calls to her contact list. No more prank calls or scammers. My only complaint about the phone is the emergency dial feature. It is right there on the screen in red. You cannot remove this option but for 9.99 a month raz will direct the emergency calls to them so they can stop them actually going to 911. I wish they would allow that feature to be removed for people like mom who have 24 hour care but may push the button out of confusion.

I absolutely love this phone for our 101 year old mother who is in skilled nursing. The Raz Mobility tech support for this phone has been outstanding. It truly is a wonderful solution for my mother and for our family. Thank you Raz Mobillity for this gift of simplicity. The skilled nursing center places the phone on the wireless charger each night when my mother retires for the evening. They place it next to her on a table next to her wheelchair when she gets up each morning. The phone holds a charge with no problem all day long. My wish: That I had known that it came already loaded with the SIM card (it was a bonus that it was but I received the phone and there was nothing to indicate that it was already loaded). I love the help videos, but I also wish that the video would have told me that on the app when the percent of charge no longer shows anything that it means that the phone is actually on the charger and the way to check how charged the battery is will require logging onto your caregiver account on the website. Tech support helped me through that. I also would have liked to have known that there is a bug in the voice recording/sticky note application currently and that the bug fix will be pushed to my app on my caregiver phone when it is ready to be released.

This is the first phone my husband has embraced since he began suffering from dementia. It works exactly as presented in the description. One touch and he can make or answer a call. He has no voicemail or text messages to deal with. If necessary, incoming calls can be limited or blocked. The caregiver may make choices based on user needs. The RAZ has eliminated his phone frustrations and has eased my mind as I know he can call family or emergency services. I recommend this phone for anyone who needs simplicity. Customer service answered all of my questions prior to my purchasing the telephone. It arrived promptly. I downloaded the app when I placed the order so had contacts, ringtones, etc. ready to go when the box arrived. Had no trouble porting the number from his previous carrier and installing the SIM card for the carrier that I use so that we have one bill. In short, the RAZ has improved our quality of life.

I purchased this phone for my 95 year old father who had become unable to use his iPhone due to too many features and updates which he did not understand. The RAZ mobility phone was easy to set up and the remote access is very helpful. He can no longer get calls from telemarketers/spammers. The only suggestion I have is that the “press and hold for 3 seconds to dial” should be the default. When my dad first got the phone, he “played” with it and repeatedly scrolled through the contacts, accidentally dialing them several times. (At least he learned how to hang up quickly!) I also appreciate the text updates about charging that come from the phone – very helpful.

This phone is awesome — took a little bit for me to get it set up — other than that, it is AWESOME!!! My mom is not technical savvy — and this phone will be super easy for her to use. I love being able to have pictures for her to select from instead of reading a name. Best feature is being able to control who can call and who cannot — this is great as my mom loves to talk on the phone and would talk to anyone — and sometimes answer questions that she should not answer. I really like being able to be notified that the phone is low on battery. That is a super great feature. I also like that it never shuts off — there is no way my mom would figure out how to turn on the phone — yes, another wonderful feature. I have told all my friends with family around the same age as my mom that need a phone about this phone. Thanks for making communicating with an older non-tech savvy person easy.

Grandma needed a phone that she could call her kids and her grandchildren. We got this phone for the ease of use. The first night she had it she was able to call us and let us know the phone was working. It is automatically on speaker for her, and it is nice and loud for ringing. She had no trouble using the phone at 96 years old. Transferring the phone to Verizon was very simple. I am recommending this phone to anyone who needs a phone that their family member can easily use. Adding phone numbers and pictures took a few seconds from the app.

I wanted to tell you how unbelievably fabulous this phone is!! I just purchased one for my mom a couple of weeks ago, and it is everything you advertise it to be. The ease, simplicity (which is so necessary), and the mobile app for the caregiver is a perfect combination. There is just no downside! We have been dreaming of a phone like this for over 8 years since my father passed.
Thank you for your innovation and for improving the lives of so many seniors. I have already referred two of my friends to get it for their parents.

My wife hasn’t used a cell phone for years due to dementia and recently stopped using our landline. The RAZ Memory phone has given her a small amount of independence and has opened her world up for communicating with friends and family again. It has also allowed me to cancel the landline. It is exactly what I was looking for and I highly recommend!

So far we are loving Mom’s new RAZ phone. I can control everything from my app but she can use her phone to call her contacts. She was having trouble operating her regular cell and this is so simple and easy to use. I’m able to get in touch with her more often now than before.

The Raz phone is amazing! I have worked in electronics for most of my life. I was truly impressed by the software control gives the care taker. My mother has dementia and suffered trying to use a normal phone. This phone gives her the capability to be in touch. It also allows me to stop the 2 in the morning calls. I have to rate this phone 5 stars in every aspect. The customer support was fantastic. All the software works seamlessly. Great job on this amazing phone!

I got this phone for my father who has Movement challenges due to Parkinsons and dimentia from Parkinsons. He absolutely loves the phone; and I really like being able to configure it remotely from an app on my phone but his care facility will no longer allow him to keep it as he keeps accidentally calling 911. When I had reviewed this phone I thought I saw it was possible for support to remove this button but I must have misunderstood and my fault for not double checking as I suspected this may be an issue as he is always accidentally calling the wrong people. The only option is to pay for an additional service and have 911 redirected. This 911 service is more than the monthly fee for the phone service. He only calls 5 people with this phone and the monthly service to redirect 911 is more than the monthly cost of the phone service. Sadly back to looking for another phone and trying to sell this one.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Robin,
Thank you for your review! We’re glad to hear that your father has adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone, and that you’re enjoying the remote management feature 🙂
Regarding the Emergency button, we have good news for you: caregivers can now choose the emergency calling method that works best for their senior through the RAZ Care app:
1) Keep the Emergency button at the top of the screen (default).
2) Add emergency services as a contact and place it anywhere on the screen (not necessarily at the top).
3) Remove the Emergency button entirely and require manual dialing using the keypad.
You can explore and test these emergency calling methods directly in the RAZ Care app.
Go to Settings > Safety > Manage emergency calling.
The RAZ Emergency Service is also a powerful solution, not only to prevent unnecessary 911 calls, but also to ensure that real emergencies are properly handled. With this service, emergency calls are routed to a private dispatch center, and caregivers receive text alerts. A trained agent speaks with the caller, assesses the situation, and either contacts 911 or cancels the call as needed.
The RAZ Emergency Service is more affordable than most wireless plans:
Monthly plan: $13/month + $20 one-time sign-up fee;
Annual plan: $130/year (no sign-up fee), which comes to just $10.83/month.

This is my Mom’s second RAZ phone. She does not have dementia, but at 93, technology does not come easy to her. She also had never had a smart phone, but could not remember how to dial her regular phone. RAZ memory cell phone saved the day, and even allowed us to get rid of the emergency button and subscription for that. Win-win!

This is a perfect phone to help my memory impaired Mom communicate with her family. Her land line phone received a huge amount of predatory calls. Only people you put into the phone can call her. Problem solved.

This phone is amazing! It has allowed my mom to independently keep in touch with people. The fact that I can update settings from my phone and not touch hers is such a game changer. Thank you!!

I recently purchased the RAZ phone for my 90 year old mother. She does not have dementia. Her mind is sharp. But, her hands are very crippled up and deformed with arthritis. She’s had difficulties with the buttons on other senior phones. The big circle contact buttons are very easy for her to tap. She only uses the phone when she is away from home. It is turned off the rest of the time. She’s never used texting or voicemail, so she doesn’t miss those features. I have it set with no limitations. It’s been perfect for her.
Carrie (verified owner) –
The concept of this phone is wonderful, but even so, people with memory issues may take some time to learn how to use it. There were several 911 calls before my mother understood to press the OTHER red button when she wants to hang up. The call confirmation setting is useful as the screen is so sensitive, it is easy to make unintentional calls just by holding the phone. Also, check mobile coverage in your area. While the phone may be compatible, it took awhile for us to find a carrier who actually covered our specific address.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Carrie! Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate it.
Regarding the 911 accidental or unnecessary calls, we have great news! You can now choose the best method for your mother from these three options through the RAZ Care app:
1) Keep the emergency button at the top of the screen, as it is now.
2) Set emergency services as a contact (with the option to choose the position of the contact icon to avoid it being at the top).
3) Use the regular keypad only, requiring the senior to manually dial the emergency number.
We also recommend testing other call activation methods to find the one that best suits your mother’s needs. Through the RAZ Care app, you can choose between Tap & Hold, Tap & Hold Long, Double Tap, or Single Tap.

Nothing is fool proof for a senior who is overwhelmed by new technology but this is by far the best device we have found. There are so many clever settings that can be managed remotely via app on the caregiver’s device.
Paul (verified owner) –
We acquired this phone because our father-in-law enjoys riding around town on his battery-powered trike, and we wanted a way for him to contact us, as well as for us to find him should there be problems. He is visually impaired and has never owned a cell phone or tablet, so there have been some steep learning curves, but this is by far the best solution we’ve found. I would like the ability to ping the phone for immediate location, rather than only every 10 minutes, so if this function could be added, that would help. Charging on the wireless charger through the orange booklet cover is challenging, as we remind him to place it “camera side down” and “buckle side up” with varying success (we have received many 3 AM texts saying the phone is dying).
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Paul! We’re thrilled to hear how well your senior is adapting to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone and appreciate your feedback. We’re excited to let you know that we’re working on an additional feature that will provide more frequent GPS updates. Thank you for your feedback!

I didn’t realize how bad my mom’s mental condition had become until a criminal called her and convinced her to give him all her financial information. I wish I had gotten her one of these phones a long time ago before that happened. The ability to limit who can call her as well as whom she can call is invaluable. The way this phone works and the way it can be programmed remotely is fantastic. The “quiet hours” feature is especially useful since my mom now sometimes gets confused about whether it’s day or night and starts trying to call people in the middle of the night.
Manoj Perera (verified owner) –
Very easy to setup with great controls to manage calls for person with dementia.
Only complaint is 911 call is too easy to accidentally call. Caregiver notification of 911 calls is great but not sure what one can do remotely to intervene once call goes through. Feature for 3-way call would be great if can connect with call to 911 and able to facilitate false call or active emergency .

It’s not a bad phone and only having six contacts is nice. However, especially with a Dementia person, having the 911 button so big at the top of the screen is absolutely ridiculous. I understand phone’s need 911 but to be so in your face for a person who has no clue about it is really hard on the Caregiver and kinda defeats the whole reason for the phone. In my opinion it’s not needed when a caregiver is with the person most of the time. There’s an emergency button in another area. It should be enough. I had to buy the emergency service from the company just because of that big button. I have placed a piece of tape over it so it’s not so in my mom’s face. Hopefully it works.

This phone was the answer to my prayers. My mother, who has moderate dementia still lives by herself and was getting 17 – 20 calls a day from phone predator’s. I simply moved the simm from her old cell phone into the Raz phone and limited her calls to only her contacts and allow calls list. The only problem I had was her calling 911 a couple of times, but I called the sheriff’s dispatcher and explain the situation and they now know that I get an email when she does that and can respond and check on her. They said they want her to have access to 911 if she needs help.

This phone has been a blessing! My grandma was struggling using her old phone. It was too complicated and she kept locking herself out, messing with settings on accident, which was frustrating for her and difficult for me to keep up with. The Raz Mobility phone has been a breath of fresh air and easy to use for my grandma. It keeps my mind at ease that she is no longer getting all of the spam calls.

I have been looking for a phone like this for years for my husband, I can take care of everything on my phone and he doesn’t have to worry about anything. He can’t see well anymore, and he can’t mess up anything. I have set the phone to answer automatically, doesn’t have to find buttons or bars with his magnifying glass. No spam!! I have gotten a cover for his phone that the cover shuts and has a magnetic flap, no mistake calling anyone and no 911 calls. Only downside is charging the phone every day, but I understand that. Phone is on 24/7 so will naturally run down quickly. This phone has given him a security he can reach me or family members quickly. Thank you for this, have been looking for the perfect phone for my needs for a long time.

This is exactly what we were looking for! My dad kept getting robo calls and falling for them or calling commercials to order pills he shouldn’t be taking. We wanted a phone we could control who calls and who he could call. It’s easy for him to use and he loves it. The app it also very user friendly. Thank you!

It took a little while for my husband to learn how to use the phone and now he loves it. i love that I can take care of who and when he can call others so he doesn’t disturb them while at work. My phone carrier near my home was very impressed when they saw it too. This type of phone is such a benefit for those who have memory problems. It’s been a blessing for our family. Absolutely love it!

I have been very pleased with the phone so far. The support staff is excellent. I am optimistic that Mom will be able to use it.
I have 21 members of the immediate family in her contacts. Having our pictures on her bedside may be her favorite part.

This phone is so much easier for my husband with dementia. I like that I can control his outgoing calls because he would call people in the middle of the night. He doesn’t sleep very well. But the ease of use for him is the best thing, he’s not constantly thinking he’s lost contacts. Before I got this phone, he was always calling me with problems he created on his phone.

So far this phone has been great for my mom. She is having trouble adjusting because it is so simple. She keeps thinking she has to hit more buttons. A good thing for me. She is getting better everyday.

I seldom report bad reviews. My father-in-law has accidently dialed 911 more than 15 times in the two weeks he’s had his phone. He’s in assisted living and dealing with macular degeneration (which means he struggles to see without tunnel vision). For the most part, the RAZ phone is a wonderful invention. But he can’t see the contact photos, so we chose to use the alternative setting for people with vision issues. The very first button on the phone’s only screen is massive, red and in very small letters, Emergency 911. I have the phone programmed so he must hold down each button for a slightly extended period to activate. He’s called 911 multiple times by just having the phone in his pocket.
I have contacted RAZ support about decreasing the size of the button, moving to the bottom of his list of contacts (which is all the phone is capable of displaying), or even doing away with it all together since he is in an assisted living environment. I explained how this phone is promoted for the visually impaired but how that is absolutely untrue. Currently, support is unwilling to do anything I have suggested. Just to be clear, He is able to see the giant contact names on his phone’s screen perfectly. And, when he is to hang up a call, he is required to press a giant red button at the top of the screen, much like the 911 button and in the same location.
I confess, if there was a different product available, I would jump on it immediately. Father-in-law needs a phone, wants to feel normal by having a phone but has actually made repeat calls to 911, saying he was sorry he accidently dialed their number.
RAZ, fix this issue and save my father-in-law from these embarrassing situations. There is no excuse for your complacently.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi David, thank you for your feedback.
We understand your frustration and, at the same time, want to emphasize how important it is for everyone to have access to emergency services when needed. While it’s not possible to completely remove the ability to call emergency services, you can choose the emergency calling method that works best for your senior through the RAZ Care app. The available options are:
1) Keep the emergency button at the top of the screen, as it is by default.
2) Set emergency services as a contact (with the option to choose the position of the contact icon to avoid it being at the top).
3) Use the regular keypad only, requiring the senior to manually dial the emergency number.

This is a game changer for my husband who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s! No more spam calls, no more struggling to read his contacts names. We find the wallet case is ideal, the phone is always on and ready to use. He use to constantly work with the buttons, turning the phone constantly turning it off, and would not be able to turn it on again when he wants to use it. The fact that he knows it can be left on and will not make accidental calls anymore, gives him peace of mind. A surprising bonus is the fact that the phone can be charged with the wallet case in place. It is a huge plus as he would have needed help with any of the other chargers. This phone has given my husband his independence at least in this one area of his life. We are also very pleased with superb service and support from this company!

Having a Mother with Dementia, the RAZ Mobility phone has been incredible. The combination of managing the phone from my device, the comfort it brings to my Mom and her ability to communicate with others, and the ease of adding it to our family’s AT&T plan has been nothing less than outstanding.
Mike (verified owner) –
This is a great phone as your parents get older and more confused with dementia and you as a caregiver are spending more and more time trying to help them. It is basic – and that’s the point. Less to get confused by. The auto answer and caregiver access on a website are great. I got 2 phones. One is the “home” phone which I set up with an auto phone holder to stay on the table between their main chairs. The other is a mobile phone for my father. My request would be to have a function for the caregiver to able to copy all the contacts and photos from one phone to the other. I had to scroll through many photos on my phone to find the pictures for their contacts and I had to repeat it for all the contacts on the second phone. Also, a minor glitch is that the battery information doesn’t update when switching to the other phone in the app. I have to switch to the other phone in the app, then close the app, then open it again to be able to see the battery charge for the second phone. Overall – still 5 stars. It has saved me tons of time and saved all of us from aggravation.
Carrie Robinson –
The phone has given my mother ability to talk with her family again, it had gotten to the point that she couldn’t even answer her land anymore. The automatic speakerphone option is great. It does exactly what we need it to do. She can call out again and receive calls. My only complaint is that the emergency service is not available in Canada and no one told me that when I bought it. so It would be nice is if the 911 button could be removed from the top of the screen and put at the bottom. She has called 911 twice already and only had the phone a couple weeks. This could prove to be an issue.

RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Brian, thank you so much for your feedback. That’s what motivates us to keep improving every day 🙂
Due to the phone’s unique design and the need for constant availability, its battery life is somewhat shorter than that of a regular cell phone. We recommend making daily charging part of your routine, just like with any other phone.
To help ensure your senior stays connected, we’ve also developed several battery-related features:
1) The senior can receive a reminder to charge when the battery is low.
2) The phone provides visual and audible confirmation when it’s charging.
3) The caregiver can receive a text alert when the battery level is low.
4) The caregiver can check the battery power and charging status anytime through the RAZ Care app.
If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’ll be happy to help!

The absolute best customer service from a company that I have ever had. I accidentally ordered 2 phone cases and the company called me to ask and then immediately removed the charge. Every time I have asked a question, I get an immediate and thorough response

As a new caretaker for our father with Parkinsons, early onset dementia, as well as decreasing vision, this phone seemed like a no brainer as he struggles with his smart phone, and classic phones are fall too small for his vision. Overall this was an amazing discovery, but this is a longer review just to share a few unexpected hurdles that we have been working to overcome with him.
In the long run this has worked out much better. We had to go directly to low vision mode which he can read the name. Disappointed the big blocks only show the name in one line, would be nice if it would wrap the name to multiple lines rather than truncate after about 10 characters. Makes it very difficult if multiple contacts with same first name.
The phone does not allow long enough for him to answer if he is napping or phone not within reach. Typically only rings approx 3 times. We tried activating the voice mail, and that does not extend it. Would be best to ring 4-6 times min to allow time to find and answer.
Emergency button also has been an issue with multiple 911 calls in the first month, just due to how he holds the phone while walking or trying to put it in or out of his pocket ends up holding either the emergency button or first contact name and calling either of them.
It would be great to have a way to electively disable the emergency button to avoid this, as he has a panic button to his local facility and would not need the phone, and would prefer to have this off, or at a minimum, a small button at the bottom or top similar to the numeric keypad and voicemail buttons.
Beyond these nuances, the phone has been working great. The volume set to always speaker has been great, although a downside if he happens to answer in a public space, does not have the option to manually switch back. But this is worth the removal of the buttons for the many times he has incorrectly changed the volume turned off phone, hung up the phone, and even accidentally deleted most of his address book without realizing it!! The few inconveniences have been worth the overall benefits of the phone!
Other feedback, would be nice to have colored cases, as with his vision issues, a black case, makes it difficult to find as it blends in with many tables, walker, floors, etc. Red/Orange/Blue or other cases would stand out and be a lot easier for someone with low vision to quickly identify and find if misplaced.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Jeremy!
It’s great to hear that your father is adapting well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone and that the Low vision mode has been helpful. Thank you for your feedback and suggestions! 🙂
We recommend testing the Auto-answer feature, which allows the phone to automatically answer calls and switch to speaker after a few rings.
To help prevent accidental or unnecessary calls to 911, we’ve recently launched an update that provides caregivers with three options:
1) Keep the emergency button at the top of the screen, as it is now.
2) Set emergency services as a contact (with the option to choose the position of the contact icon to avoid it being at the top).
3) Use the regular keypad only, requiring the senior to manually dial the emergency number.
To update your RAZ Memory Cell Phone, please reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083.

Additionally, we’re happy to inform you that all cases available in our shop now have an Orange option as well.

I love the idea of the Memory Cellphone and wanted to love this phone, but the execution could be improved. It’s great that someone with memory and function loss now has a phone to use and call. And, that there’s an app where the setting and functions can be controlled remotely. So these features are great and generally would make the phone a worthwhile purchase.
However, the greatest problem is the red emergency button on top. Seniors who previously would have never considered calling emergency services, now call it incessantly because they keep touching the red button. That means that we have to subscribe to the RAZ-offered emergency service so everything is not routed directedly to 911 which could happen 10-15 times a day. This issue is major enough that I’ve considered disconnecting this phone. The shortcomings of the phone beyond that are mere oddities. For example, if a picture is touched and the number is dialed, any further touching of the picture means more dialing even while the first call is being placed. It would be also better if the volume could be a little louder.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Mojgan! We really appreciate your feedback, as we keep working every day to improve our products 🙂
Regarding the accidental or unnecessary emergency calls, we have excelent news! Caregivers can now choose the best method for their seniors from these three options through the RAZ Care app:
1) Keep the emergency button at the top of the screen, as it is now.
2) Set emergency services as a contact (with the option to choose the position of the contact icon to avoid it being at the top).

We also recommend testing other call activation methods on the RAZ Care app to find the one that best suits your senior’s needs. Simply go to Settings > General > Call activation method and choose between Tap & hold, Tap & hold long, Double tap, or Single tap. This can also help prevent accidental calls.

I bought this phone for my dad, who is 103. He doesn’t have dementia but does have serious vision and hearing issues. The phone is close to perfect. It is loud enough for him to hear, and the pictures are easy for him to identify – so much better than having to navigate a keypad on a touchscreen! One problem we ran into was setting up voicemail – if you are with AT&T, do not let them give you Visual Voicemail – it appears to be their default, and I could not get the voicemail set up until we reverted to the original, plain old voicemail.

This is the only phone that my developmentally disabled sister who is also undergoing progressing dementia, can use. She is in an assisted living facility, and has hit the 911 button a number of times. It is very important that the Razcare app have the capability to disable the 911 function when the senior is in a full time care facility. Otherwise, this phone is wonderful

I’m very happy with the Raz mobility cell phone. One suggestion would be to make the emergency call optional and set by the caregiver. I bought this phone for my husband, who has dementia. His flip phone was literally unusable with all the spam calls and error messages popping up for every little quirk. The contacts were difficult to navigate and even answering the calls got confusing. With RAZ he is back in touch with the world. It was unbelievably easy to set up from my phone. With limited contacts, he no longer has to deal with spam calls. It automatically answers calls and has the speaker function already on – so the caller is right there! The most important feature is the 911 button. I worried if something happened to me – he wouldn’t know how to call for help. Although the 1st 20 minutes he had the phone in his pocket – he not only called 911 – but also answered “yes” to whether or not he wanted to call for an emergency. Needless to say – I knew there was a solution for that. I immediately ordered a Wallet Case for his phone. He can’t accidentally make calls anymore and also doesn’t have to remember to take his wallet when he goes out – it’s all in one case. He LOVES it!
Bonnie Dooley (verified owner) –
The Raz phone is terrific with the one screen and pictures of us to make it so easy for mom to get inTouch with us. Entering other family and friends phone number into the phone so when they call in Mom can see the name of the person who is calling , another great feature. Having the Raz App on my phone to set up everything was so easy. The only thing so far unless I’m missing it if mom wants to call any in her contact list there is no where for mom to just press a a printed name to call.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Bonnie! Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re thrilled to hear that the RAZ Memory Cell Phone has been an important tool for helping your mom stay in touch with you and the rest of the family. We’re also glad that you found the RAZ Care app easy to set up as well!
Regarding your concern about your mom not being able to press a printed name to call someone, please note that you can create an icon with just a name instead of a photo. This way, your mom can easily identify and call anyone in her contact list. Additionally, if you activate the Low vision mode, it will display contact names only, which might also be helpful for her.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. We’re here to help!

This phone is a godsend for those with memory problems and those who care for them. It was easy to setup with the care app. I hadn’t realized my husband had lost the ability to use his cell phone until I asked him to show me how he would call me if he needed me. He was unable to go through all the steps most phones require. We practice with the Raz everyday and he is getting more and more comfortable with using it. I think this will give him a sense of control and I will feel better knowing he can call me or another family member if he wants or needs us. The wallet case is very helpful in preventing accidental calls and I highly recommend that anyone who buys the phone always purchases the case. I have been telling everyone (including my husband’s doctors) about this phone and how unique it is. Thank you for coming up with the memory phone!!

I was excited to purchase this phone for a family member. The first couple of days were great! Than when tried to call her doctors office and couldn’t. Tried to order her medication and couldn’t. Because when you call these places they are automated and your phone does not have the in call dial pad option. Very disappointing and frustrating to my family member. Now she no longer has the freedom to take care of these things herself and it is now on me. I do hope you add this option in the very near future as so many businesses require an in call dial pad. Other than this major disappointment the phone is great. Thank you, Cindy

Hi Cynthia,

I got this phone for my mother. Soi far she likes it. She is 90 and legally blind.
The pros:
Is very easy for her to make and receive calls.
The caregiver gets notifications about low battery, or when an emergency call is placed from the phone .
The cons:
Short battery life
The emergency button is big and on top of the screen. This is good in case of emergency , but is too easy to accidentally call 911 (it happened a couple of times)
There is no language options, only English. It would be great to have a Spanish option in the settings
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Maria, thank you very much for your feedback, it truly means a lot to us. We do plan to add more language options in the future.

Overall, a nice practical phone and an improvement over his other phone. However, with the new phone, there is still a learning curve in the case of my person with dementia that he cannot overcome. He is used to tapping to make a call, but if I leave the phone on ‘tap’ he, is calling people when the phone is in his pocket (phone does have the case around it and the glass on it). Then, if I change it to ‘long tap’, he just can’t remember to do the long tap. So, essentially he does not have a phone if he wants to go alone on a neighborhood bike ride or walk.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Ann, thank you for your feedback, we truly appreciate it 🙂
We recommend testing other call activation methods, like Double tap, for example.
You can also enable the Call confirmation screen. This will show a popup after a contact is tapped, asking the senior to confirm before placing the call.
If you don’t have one yet, we recommend taking a look at the Wallet case. It covers the phone’s screen and helps prevent accidental calls.

I never write reviews but I thought it was important to share. I searched high and low for a phone that my mom was able to use. I looked at apps, I looked at ways to program phones to do all the things I needed. The apps were not reliable and still didn’t meet all my needs. This phone is very very user friendly and works very well. All the functions they describe work. As with any newer software there have been a few little quirks with it but every time I’ve called customer support I’ve gotten prompt attention and a live human on the phone to address the issue. I highly recommend this phone. So grateful for it. Being able to check in on my mom and have her feel more connected to all the family is worth every penny.
Julia –
The phone does what it claims it will do but it is still confusing for my LO. Her old cell phone had become too confusing for her to navigate but she knew how to make and receive calls once she was in the correct spot. The Raz phone, as far as I can tell, doesn’t allow her to swipe to answer. The phone ringer is not very loud and she is hard of hearing so she misses the ring. Her old phone has a popular song as her ringtone so even if she hears her Raz ringing she doesn’t know to answer. The phone uses way too much battery and there should be an easier work around to stop unwanted 911 calls. We did add a keypad and made 911 calls keypad only so hopefully we have stopped them. Otherwise, it is a nice phone and we like having the ability to add big photos as her contacts with name and number listed as well.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Julia, thank you very much for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you’re exploring the different emergency calling methods available on the RAZ Memory Cell Phone. This is a great step toward preventing accidental or unnecessary 911 calls 🙂

This phone has been a relief for me, and works perfectly for my mother, who was having memory issues, and has been having cognitive issues due to a recent stroke. She is able to use the phone easily, (she was intimidated and flummoxed by all of her previous phones — and there were many) and I can call to remind her to charge her phone when I see that her battery is low. My only issue is that the battery drains very quickly. I receive the text reminder almost daily, although she doesn’t use her phone that often. (That’s why 4 stars, not 5!)

It’s only been a couple of weeks, but this seems to be working well for our Mom who is going to be 97. Mom is totally bed and chair bound so I have a plastic holder on the wall next to her chair and the phone is on auto answer so that when we video call her she immediately sees us. We really didn’t need the flat bed charger because I leave the phone plugged into the wall charger all the time. She can no longer handle even the most simple connections. Love it that I can control and see who is and isn’t calling her. We really didnt need the flat bed charger. Pretty simple for even a dummy like me to navigate through the app.

This phone has been the best solution for my father. Unfortunately, he doesn’t fully understand that the pictures are for calling the person. He tries to open up the picture to see it better, which calls the person. Thank goodness for being able to set quiet hours. This has been a great solution for getting rid of spam calls. I don’t like that when set to have charging announced, it keeps repeating the message. Just once or twice should be sufficient. It’s great being able to access the controls using the caregiver app. Customer service is fabulous! Overall, it’s been such a help staying in touch with my father, especially when I’m in a different state.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Linda,
Thank you for your feedback. We truly appreciate it!
We recommend testing different call activation methods to help prevent accidental calls. You can find this option in the RAZ Care app under Settings > General > Call activation method. You’ll be able to choose between Single tap, Double tap, Tap & hold, or Tap & hold long.

The RAZ mobility phone is a really great option for my 89 yr old mother. While she has only had the phone for a week or two, she is beginning to get the hang of it. Her flip phone was unworkable and way too complicated for her to reliably make a call. The RAZ has made it much easier for her to connect with all of her kids and Grandkids. The App has some great features, but I’m hoping that there will be some future upgrades. My mom likes to press buttons, and she has shut the phone off several times and that requires me or someone to stop by her place just to turn the phone back on. I would love a feature that either makes it much more complicated for her to shut the phone off ,or a feature that would allow the caregiver the ability, in the APP ,to turn the phone back on. The charging station has been very helpful and the orange Case does help her locate her phone as well as prevent accidentally dialing the phone. I’d also like to see an upgrade where we can, not only see the call history, but see which calls actually went through and how long each call lasted. Lastly, I would like to give my mom the ability to toggle back and forth from speaker to ear volume. Having to pick one setting is a great option, but being able to move from one to another would be even better. When she is out at meals, no one wants to have their friends phone on speaker and when she is in her room, the speaker setting is a much better option for her to hear more clearly. We have been forced to use the non-speaker option all the time, so that she is not disturbing people around her with a speaker blaring for everyone to hear. Overall, I am very happy with this phone, and I am thrilled that this was an option for my elderly mother. I look forward to many future software updates. Thank You

I can’t believe how well this is working for my mother who had suffered a series of strokes. She couldn’t use or answer her old phone and was becoming quite isolated. Since we got it a week ago, she has been calling everyone! It’s been just life-changing for her. The caregiver features are wonderful. Really can’t recommend enough.
Zack (verified owner) –
This phone has been really great for my mother with Alzheimer’s. But one really glaring flaw is that there should be a way to turn off the giant red 911 banner at the top. She’s in assisted living and is safe in that regard, but she occasionally accidentally dials 911, which creates a disturbance at her building. I’ve been told she might have to stop using the phone as a result.

It has been a little struggle for my mom to learn how to use Raz Mobility. She doesn’t want speaker phone because someone may hear a conversation but she fusses about not being able to hear. Thankfully the volume control is turned off (except for ringer) so I know it is probably operator error. As caregiver I am very grateful to have found this phone. I like the photo contact for calling out/receiving. I think it’s he best that could happen! And the video option is wonderful as well. Much easier than tracking down other means to video call. There are a few minor quirks I’ve shared with support that they are making note for improvement. Overall, it is a wonderful option to have and I’ve been sharing what I’ve found.

This is the phone for my Mom we have been looking for!

It alerts me when she has turned off the phone or the battery is low. Customer service is excellent! Buy one and support this amazing company and get peace of mind! At $349 it is a bargain.

Awesome phone, does just what we needed for my mother in law.
Michele (verified owner) –
Perfect phone for my elderly mother. She can actually use it with ease. I love it
Valerie (verified owner) –
This is a really great option for our mother with dementia. I especially like all the control I have from the app.
Some of my favorite features:
I can call and remind her to put the phone on the charger if I see the battery is low.
My siblings and I no longer get middle of the night or very early phone calls, with the “quiet time” setting.
I can see who she is calling and how often.
I don’t worry about solicitor’s or scammers calling her, because I control who can call her.
Thank you Raz for a great product.

The interface is exception. The programable options allow great flexibility is setting up the phone for your loved ones needs. The one short fall is the battery life – 24 hours when new. The work around is I get a text that the battery is low and can call the nursing home and request they plug in the charger, but it is everyday. The nursing home aides are always changing and even though I ask and even have a sign by the bed to please charge for 2 hours every morning it just doesn’t happen. A very helpful change would be a phone with a much longer lasting battery. Some cell phones also have an option to by pass the battery when the charger is plugged in which could allow you to just leave it plugged in all the time. That said, this is a great product with well though out features and I highly recommend.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Bob! We appreciate your feedback. It helps us to keep improving our products every day!
Regarding battery life, due to its unique design and the need for constant availability, the battery life of this phone is somewhat shorter compared to a regular cell phone. We recommend daily charging as a routine practice, similar to what you would do with any other phone. We’re glad to hear that you’re using the text message alert. We also developed three additional features to help prevent the phone from running out of battery:
1) The senior can receive a reminder to charge the phone when the battery is low.
2) Visual and audible confirmation alerts the senior when the phone is charging.
3) The caregiver can check the battery level and charging status at any time through the app.
If you prefer, the phone can remain plugged into the charger at all times, as you mentioned.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance. We’ll be happy to help 🙂

I originally loved the idea of this phone, and I do love the features, but there are some issues that prevent this from being a great phone for him: 1) It does not go loud enough for the hearing impaired. I even put it on speaker phone turned it all the way up, and it is still not as loud as his old flip phone, so he can’t hear it well. I would love it to pair with his hearing aids, but I checked with support and it can’t. UGH. 2) It went dead the other day, so when he plugged it in it charged but did not come up to the main screen, it just stayed blank. I had to drive 2-1/2 hours to find out it was fully charged but was still “off”. I held in the side button and it came back up after going through the whole Motorola boot up process, but my dad could never accomplish this. 3. It is so BIG! My dad won’t take it with him anywhere because it doesn’t fit in any of his pockets. Therefore it sits in his room and goes dead. I wish it had all of the great features that it has, plus a little smaller, a little louder, could pair with hearing aids, and when dies and plugged back in it came up to the main screen with pictures instead of remaining off.

Hello Daniel!
Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re thrilled to hear that you love the RAZ Memory Cell Phone and its features—it motivates us to keep improving our products.
You are correct that the phone is currently not compatible with hearing aids. However, its speaker volume reaches up to 126.5dB, making it one of the most powerful on the market and suitable for most seniors’ needs. Customers also love the phone’s size, as it makes navigating the contact list and reading information on the large screen much easier for seniors.
Regarding battery charging: due to its unique design and the need for constant availability, the battery life of the RAZ Memory Cell Phone is somewhat shorter than a regular cell phone. We recommend daily charging as a routine practice, similar to other phones. Please note that once the phone’s battery is completely drained, it won’t turn on automatically — you’ll need to press the power button to restart it.
To support seniors with battery charging, we’ve developed several helpful features available through the RAZ Care app:
1) The senior can receive a reminder to charge the phone when the battery is low.
2) Visual and audible confirmation alerts the senior when the phone is charging.
3) The caregiver can receive a text message alert when the battery is low.
4) The caregiver can check the battery level and charging status at any time through the app.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance. We’re here to help! 🙂

Phone works as expected and is relatively easy for my 96-year-old dad to make and receive phone calls. Only complaint is there is no obvious way to eliminate both the 911 button and the dial pad option. Apparently, the current implementation of the RAZ control software requires the dial pad option to be enabled if removal of the 911 button is selected. He currently lives in an assisted living facility and does not have a need for 911 services. Plus, the neuropathy condition in his hands/fingers makes it easy to accidentally hit the 911 button (which he has done) and/or the dial pad option without being aware he has done so. The additional 911 or dial pad screen creates confusion as to why it suddenly appeared and confusion in completing the call process. This is an easy update to the RAZ control software and would be more satisfied as a customer if the software development team would add this improvement as a high priority item to the new features list. In fact, I would contend this was an oversight in the requirements gathering phase of the initial development process and is arguably a defect in the current implementation.

Hi Lyle! Thank you for your feedback.
For regulatory and safety reasons, we cannot completely remove access to the emergency call button. However, we have good news! To help prevent accidental or unnecessary 911 calls, caregivers can now select the best method for their seniors from three options available in the RAZ Care app:
1) Keep the emergency button at the top of the screen, as it is now.
2) Set emergency services as a contact (with the option to choose the position of the contact icon to avoid it being at the top).
3) Use the regular keypad only, requiring the senior to manually dial the emergency number.
If your senior faces hand mobility challenges, we recommend trying the Hand tremor mode. It features super-large buttons and contact icons, making it easier for your senior to navigate the contact list while reducing the risk of accidental taps.
Additionally, through the RAZ Care app, you can test and select different call activation methods, such as Tap & hold, Tap & hold long, or Double tap.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance. We’re here to help! 🙂

Finally a phone my father can usually use. He does sometimes call by accident and has dialed the 911 bar, so I removed it and just put the small icon on the bottom where the buttons are and he could manually dial it…maybe. At least he can call my siblings and answer our calls which is what we wanted.
Ned Goyne (verified owner) –
Phone has worked well. Non-contacts call ring three times then disconnect (except one that got through). Battery could be better…only last about three days with little or no use.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Ned! Thank you for your feedback.
You can limit calls to contacts only through the RAZ Care app. Simply go to Settings and enable the “Limit incoming calls” option under Safety.
Regarding battery charging, due to its unique design and the need for constant availability, the battery life of this phone is somewhat shorter compared to a regular cell phone. We recommend daily charging as a routine practice, similar to what you would do with any other phone.

A very good product. Suggestion is to have text message capability to be forwarded to caregivers. Many websites require a secondary security layer for vertification. This would help “keep an eye out” for potential scamming problems.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Jim!
Thank you so much for your feedback.
With the RAZ Memory Cell Phone, your senior is indeed protected from scams, as you can limit incoming calls to trusted contacts only. Additionally, they can’t access the internet with the phone.
Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates on text messaging! 😉

It deserves 6 stars!! Design objectives met 100%.
Incredibly simple to use because it has very limited functions (tap picture or icon to call/answer); comprehensive remote management; reminders are really useful (Mom, put phone on charging stand); wireless charging means one less thing for user to fiddle with, just put it on the stand; .

So far I’m very happy with this phone for my father with dementia. We got it for his 90th birthday, as the iphone had become too complicated. I like the easy-to-use app, and so far he’s using it without assistance, which is a big help. Thank you to the folks who developed this. The only improvement I’d recommend is that the charging cord be a bit longer.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Cris!
We love hearing that the RAZ Memory Cell Phone has been helpful for your father and that he’s adapted well to it. It was indeed designed to be easy to use 🙂
If you need a longer charging cord, we recommend our 6.6ft Extension USB Charger Cable, which might be perfect for your needs.

Excellent phone, easy to use and simplistic in design. My only issue is that the video link should be from the user as well. My dad doesn’t live in the same state as his grandkids and if they don’t video call him, he can’t see them. Wish that was an addition to the phone!
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Pamela,
Thank you so much for your review — it inspires us to keep improving our products every day 🙂
Currently, video calls can only be initiated through the RAZ Care app by approved contacts to ensure the senior’s safety. However, we’re actively working on a video call feature update that will allow seniors to start video calls directly from the RAZ Memory Cell Phone in a safe and easy way. Stay tuned for updates!

Absolutely perfect for my mom. She can manage to make and receive calls to her family. Everything on this phone has been so well thought out. It is remarkable what has been and not been included. They got rid of all the confusing crap and managed to create a device that my mom (99 yo) can use. Absolutely genius’.
Priscilla R (verified owner) –
The phone is simple. It can be easily set up using the App. Customer service has also been helpful in set up. I like the GPS feature.
Luis Franco (verified owner) –
Excellent phone for its intended user… someone that struggles with technology or memory challenged. The caretaker app is extremely useful and makes it easy to manage my mom’s phone. It would have gotten 5 stars, but the volume for the speaker phone is not loud enough. The volume is fixed by the phone’s software and is not adjustable. It states that it’s at its max volume, but the ringtone volume is significantly louder than the speaker phone volume so I believe the speaker volume could be louder. Mom is hard of hearing so increased volume would be better. Maybe a future software upgrade?
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Luis,
Thank you for your review and feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that your mother has adapted well to the phone and that you find the RAZ Care app both useful and easy to use 🙂
Regarding the volume, it’s true that the ringtone is somewhat louder than the speaker. It’s worth noting that the RAZ Memory Cell Phone has one of the loudest speakers on the market, reaching up to 126.5dB!
For hard-of-hearing users, we recommend activating the Speaker feature through the RAZ Care app. This ensures that all calls automatically go to the phone’s loudspeaker, making conversations much easier to hear.
If you have any concerns, feel free to contact our Support team. They’ll be happy to assist you and check if there’s any issue affecting your device’s volume. We’re always here to help!

So far I like what I see. I have two concerns: 1)the charge on the phone doesn’t seem to last for 48 hours even without using it. 2) because of this I’m afraid of when it will announce that the phone needs charging, so I’ll probably tell Mom to plug it in every night.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Tina. Thank you for your feedback! We’re so glad to hear that both you and your mom have adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone 🙂
As for the charging routine, that’s exactly what we recommend—charging the phone daily, just like you would with any other phone.

Okay, update on my original review and complaint that the speaker volume was not loud enough. About a day after I posted my review I received some help from customer support to make sure the speaker was at its maximum volume. I guess it wasn’t since it did significantly improved.
Excellent customer support and you resolved my only issue! Mom is very happy! Thanks so much!

My Mother In-law has dementia. We were having problems with her using her smart phone. The RAZ phone solved our issues with her making and receiving calls outside of her contacts. The caregiver portal has given us the ability to keep it easy for her to use her phone. greatly reduced the time I have to spend dealing with phone issues. The one issue I have is that when you activate Voice Mail, the Voice Mail indicator stay active on the RAZ phone. This is confusing to her as she thinks she has a voice mail and is constantly checking it. When you activate voicemail, it would be nice if the voicemail would not show up until there is a voicemail and when you listen to the voicemail and provide the status you want, it would go away from the screen until the next voicemail. We love this phone, and it solved a lot of issues we were having.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hi Michael,
We’re so happy to hear that your mother-in-law has adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone and that it has resolved the issues you had with her old phone. That’s exactly what motivates us!
Thank you for your feedback about the Voicemail feature—we truly value it. We’re currently exploring this possibility to determine if it’s technically feasible to implement on the phone.

I am so grateful to finally find a phone that my husband feels confident in using. His lack of technology skills and refusal to learn them has made cellular telephone usage a constant problem. Even though he would prefer a smaller phone, the benefits of the large contact icons make the size a non issue with him. I love being able to enter the contact information from the RAZ app on my phone.
Lori Drake (verified owner) –
This phone has worked exactly as advertised. I wish I had known about it for my Mom a year or more ago. Between the dementia and arthritic fingers she’d lost the ability to use a regular phone. Raz has bridged that gap and she’s easily using the Raz Memory phone. The caretaker app is the Best!
Carol (verified owner) –
My dad has had the memory phone for one week. To eliminate confusion and overwhelm, we limited his screen to two contacts plus 911. Over the course of the week we practiced in person with him, answering and making calls every day so that he could do it by himself as we live far away. I LOVE this phone. It has reconnected us with our dad who, in his cognitive decline, decided he no longer needed phone. The phone is simple enough for him to use, really easy for us to manage and personalize through the RAZ care app and the online portal, there are no disruptive spam or scam calls as with a landline. We have had one accidental 911 call while he was learning to use the phone and the caregiver text alert feature worked perfectly. Dad still doesn’t understand that the purple dot on the contact picture means that person has called him but that’s ok. Occasionally the app isn’t up to the moment, especially regarding phone charging or power on, but that isn’t a deal breaker. We accepted the 3 month Affinity service offer and it has been great so far. We also purchased the orange button blocking case so the phone is easy to locate and can’t accidentally be turned off, the screen protectors, and the wireless charger. We taught our dad to always put the “orange phone” back on the charger but can easily check the app remotely to see if it is actually being charged. Customer service was quick and helpful when I had a difficulty getting my phone to connect with the memory phone. So far I am extremely happy with the purchase. The phone package wasn’t inexpensive but it has been worth it for the peace of mind.

Setting up the phone was a simple process using the app. The ability to set up and change functions using the portal allows me to individualize the options based on mom’s needs……from anywhere. By only allowing incoming calls from her contact list, it’s eliminated spam calls and helps to ensure my mom doesn’t make unanticipated changes to health insurance or prescriptions or commit to donations from companies who take advantage of her situation. Because this was her first “smart phone” there was a period of adjustment to using a touchscreen, but she seems to have made the adjustment, and she loves the pictures of the callers and the speaker option. This is a great solution for people like my mom who have short-term memory impairment.

This phone is perfect for what we needed for my brother. It checked all the boxes. He has been using it and loves it. Your customer service was excellent and follow up was immediate.
Sean Kirkpatrick (verified owner) –
On the whole, it’s a pretty good phone and has eliminated the confusion that occurs with my mom’s regular Android phone. My biggest complaint is that it simply must be charged every day. My mom cannot remember to put it on the charger which means that I must ensure that it gets charged every morning. Moreover, it takes hours to charge when on the cradle. I’m very likely to remove the charging pad on the back of the phone and go back to a direct cable.
RAZ Mobility Team –
Hello Sean,
Thank you for your feedback. Due to its unique design and the need for constant availability, the battery life of the RAZ Memory Cell Phone is somewhat shorter compared to a regular cell phone. However, depending on usage, the battery can last between 24-30 hours. We recommend daily charging as a routine practice, similar to what you would do with any other phone.
We’ve also developed a series of features to help make sure your senior stays connected:
1) The senior can receive a reminder to charge when the battery power is low.
2) The senior can get visual and audible confirmation that the phone is charging.
3) The caregiver can receive a text message alert when the battery power on the phone is low.
4) The caregiver can check the current battery power and charging status at any time.
If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Support team. We’ll be glad to help 🙂

My mother, with the guidance of my sister and me, purchased this phone because she realized that her smart phone was getting too difficult to navigate. It has been a great decision! To get it set up for her needs took a bit of work, but costumer service was outstanding. I made many calls, asking questions about altering settings. Every representative was patient and walked me through any issue I had and change I wanted to make. They were honest and responsive. So appreciated, especially since this is not generally the case nowadays. Due to our location, rural Michigan, we had some issues with cell coverage so needed to switch providers, but that was accomplished without much hassle as well. My mother has adjusted well and is now so much happier. She again feels connected with her friends and family. I would highly recommend this product, but urge consumers to be patient with the process, sticking with it until it’s set they way they had hoped.

This has been a nearly perfect solution with our taking care my 81 yr old mom. The the caregiver app and the phone itself has been easy to set up and for her to use. Zero issues with here getting lost in menus or other problems with her use. However, it bothers her it that it stays on and she will turn it off. is there a setting that will allow the screen to dim after not being used for a few minutes? Other than that it has been a real blessing with our care for her!!

Hello Don,
We’re so happy to hear that both your mom and you have adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone. Thank you for your kind words!

I have no social media accounts so this will be my review. So far the phone is going to be the best purchase for my elderly mom I’ve ever done! So thank you for making a phone that has nothing but the capability to call someone and receive calls from only selected people. Thank you!

This RAZ phone was THE answer for my Mom. No more worrying about scam calls, or Mom calling missed calls from telemarketers. No more fighting an old flip phone with all of its hidden features. The only downside is that it’s much easier for Mom to call everyone on her contact list, and she does. Thank you for this solution to a worrisome issue.

OUTSTANDING PHONE! The Raz phone I purchased for my 97 year old mother has solved all of our communication issues. Mom has serious cognitive issues, but can easily use her new phone. No spam callers can reach her. CUSTOMER SERVICE…. IS WONDERFUL. 100% A+ 🏅 🏆 👍 (Call them or use their chat feature… don’t complain about the phone…. get help immediately. Again, Raz is wonderful. ) 👍👍👍

This phone was a huge help to our loved one at age 100! The phone took a lot of stress off of him and us. Being able to set it up and control it from an app on my phone was perfect, because we lived 90 miles away from him. Whenever we called the company for assistance, we always got a human being who was friendly, courteous, and SO helpful! I highly recommend this phone and the RAZ Mobility people.
Jennifer T. (verified owner) –
This phone has been an absolute God send.
We are able to track, send reminders, set phone quiet hours all remotely. This is very important as I am out of state from my mom.
It is easy to use and we control who she can call and who can call her. No need to worry about scam calls!
RAZ is also very proactive to client input and suggestions. Since my mom has been using the phone, RAZ has made updates that we asked for. We have been using this phone for less than a year.
The best new feature is that you can control repetitive dialing by choosing the number of calls a person can make during a time period. This is in addition to having quiet hours (ie so no middle of the night calls).
I recommend this phone for anyone that has a loved one with dementia or any memory issues. Or even the tech challenged older person!

The RAZ Memory Phone is a game changer. I researched and researched and finally uncovered RAZ, and it is the answer to everything needed. The features that are especially helpful are the remote control of video calls, blocking certain calls coming in/out, remote control of all the key settings features, and the genuine relief that connecting via phone is still possible thanks to this device — when everything else was failing/unusable/confusing. My hat’s off to the RAZ team for their ingenuity, excellent customer support, and for their deep understanding of what sort of phone and features are needed for the user and family when dealing with memory issues. THANK YOU RAZ!
