Description
The award-winning RAZ Memory Cell Phone is an easy-to-use, groundbreaking cell phone for people with memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, low vision, Parkinson’s or seniors who prefer an intuitive experience. The phone consists of one primary screen and one screen only. It allows seniors to stay connected with friends and family through regular phone calls, video calls and text messages, while allowing the caregiver to manage the phone from afar.
The single screen includes three elements:
- Photos and names of up to fifty contacts with six large icons per page;
- An optional 911 button or the alternative RAZ Emergency Service subscription;
- Optional information such as date & time, day of the week, battery power and signal strength.
The RAZ Memory Cell Phone does not exit the home screen. This prevents users from getting confused in the normal smartphone environment. Even the power button can be disabled.
The display, which is a large 6.5 inches, does not time out. It can remain always-on or go dark after 2 minutes and wake up with movement. At your option, incoming calls can be restricted to those coming from Contacts, eliminating undesirable predatory calls.
With a relentless focus on being extremely intuitive and easy to use, the RAZ Memory Cell Phone requires only a simple tap to place and answer calls. The caregiver also has the option to adapt the call activation method to the option that best suits their senior’s needs and ability.
Remote Manage provides caregivers the unprecedented ability to remotely control ALL aspects of their senior’s cell phone through a simple app. Create and edit contacts, manage settings, access the phone information and much more from your own smartphone (iPhone or Android).
Key features:
Phone calls: Place and answer calls with a simple tap allowing the senior to stay connected with friends and family. The caregiver can manage the contacts with the RAZ Care app.
Block unwanted incoming calls: Avoid scams and robocalls with this essential feature that allows incoming calls only from contacts, enhancing your senior’s safety.
Video calls: Stay connected with your senior effortlessly. Only approved contacts can initiate video calls, not the senior.
Text messaging: A simplified, customizable experience that allows seniors to send and receive text messages according to their needs and abilities, featuring super-large letters, big buttons, speech-to-text, and quick answer options. Caregivers can also control who the senior can text and who can text them. Currently, this feature does not support group messaging or the ability to share photos.
Press & hold buttons: The caregiver can choose between different press & hold methods to prevent unwanted calls. And we have added an extra layer of safety with the call confirmation screen.
Settings are disabled for the user: ALL the settings including the volume rocker are remotely managed by the caregiver through the RAZ Care app. Caregivers can even disable the power button to avoid the phone to be accidentally turned off. This means peace of mind for the caregiver and safety for the senior.
Reminders: From your own smartphone, you can send your senior reminders about medicines, appointments or important events and see if they were acknowledged. Reminder colors and font size can be customized through the RAZ Care app.
Quiet hours: Prevent your senior with dementia from calling specified contacts during certain hours of the day or in the middle of the night.
Loneliness alerts: Reduce loneliness! Receive an alert when the user does not participate in the desired number of calls.
Manage battery charging: The RAZ Memory Cell Phone provides four key charging features. Seniors can get reminders to charge the phone and will receive visual & audible confirmation when the phone is connected to the charger. Caregivers can track the remaining battery power and charging status in the RAZ Care app and receive text alerts when the battery is low.
Location tracking & Status check: With the RAZ Care app, caregivers can get peace of mind by checking the real-time status of their senior’s phone, as well as its location.
Calling emergency services: Control how users can call emergency services. Three options are available, including an option for a 911 emergency button that is always within reach for your senior’s safety.
RAZ Emergency Service: With the RAZ Emergency Service, every emergency call is routed to a private dispatch agent who assesses the situation and contacts 911 if necessary.
Calls can go automatically to Speaker mode: With this option, seniors can hear calls clearly. The RAZ Memory Cell Phone’s speaker’s loudness can reach up to 125.6dB!
Calls can be answered automatically: With the Auto-answer option, incoming calls from contacts will be answered automatically and the call will be on speaker.
Low Vision and Hand Tremor mode: An even simpler interface with super-larger icons, fewer contacts per page and bigger buttons. You can select the color scheme and customize the contact icons for better contrast. You can also add a status tile, showing a large time and battery level. The ideal mode for those with low vision, Parkinson’s, hand tremor and others.
Wireless charging: The wireless charging set (sold separately) allows the user to easily charge the phone by placing it on the wireless charging stand or pad without the hassle of plugging in the charging cable.
Free updates: We are always looking to improve our products to make seniors’ and caregivers’ lives easier. When we launch new updates to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone, our customers get 100% free access to them.
Enhance your senior’s safety with our solutions
RAZ Emergency Service: With this subscription-based service, emergency calls are connected to a highly trained agent to help the senior through their problem. The agent will have access to the senior’s location and other helpful information provided by the caregiver. Text messages will be sent to emergency contacts, providing the opportunity to interact directly with the agent to assess the nature of the emergency and provide input. The RAZ Emergency Service helps avoid up to 95% of unnecessary emergency calls.
RAZ Alert: Respond more quickly to your senior’s emergencies. When your senior calls 911, receive a text message alerting you to the call. Up to 3 people can receive the 911 text message alert. There’s no additional cost for this feature.
Auto Answer: If your senior is not answering the phone and you believe that they might be experiencing an emergency, you can activate the Auto Answer feature in the RAZ Care app. When you call, the RAZ Memory Cell Phone will answer automatically after 4 or 5 rings and go to speakerphone. This is a great safety feature if your senior has fallen, for example, and can’t get to the phone! There’s no additional cost for this feature.
And there’s more!

Its great other than it does not stay charged very long.

Hello Coleen! Thank you for your review!
Due to its unique design and the need for constant availability, the battery life of the RAZ Memory Cell Phone can be somewhat shorter compared to a regular cell phone. We recommend daily charging as a routine practice, similar to what you would do with any other phone.
We’ve also developed a series of features to help make sure your senior stays connected:
1) The senior can receive a reminder to charge when the battery power is low.
2) The senior can get visual and audible confirmation that the phone is charging.
3) The caregiver can receive a text message alert when the battery power on the phone is low.
4) The caregiver can check the current battery power and charging status at any time.

After my mother injured herself by falling several times, we were able to arrange for her to be in a rehabilitation facility, and from there I did my due diligence in searching to see if anyone had created a phone and service that would actually be friendly for non-tech-savvy seniors, and especially ones displaying signs of dementia, like my mother.
I wanted to protect my mother from phone scammers, as well as the annoyances and waste of time from even well-intentioned telemarketers.
I wanted for my mother to be able to see who is calling rather than trying to read some text on a tiny flip phone screen.
I wanted a phone that was so simple that virtually anyone should be able to use it — just touch a picture of the person you want to call and the call is made.
So in doing due diligence, I found the RAZ Memory Phone. I got the easy-to-spot orange case, and the screen protector, and I’ll give my reviews of each.
I do love the way the RAZ Memory Phone is programmed by a caregiver (me with POA) and that other secondary caregivers can be added, such as my sister, whose been taking care of her shopping and clothes laundering for several years. So my mother can’t get into the nuts and bolts of the operation and screw things up.
The thing that I’m not that crazy about is the size of the phone. Just a bit too big for a little old lady’s hand. Add the orange case and it’s even more cumbersome. I understand the desire to have a bigger area for the contacts photos, but IMHO size matters, and in this case, smaller is better.
The other thing that I’m not too thrilled about is that the battery life seems rather short for a phone that is merely for talking and one that is barely used by my mother at all.
Concerning the orange case, it’s bright enough to be easy to spot, rather than looking like every other black smartphone out there. But like I said previously, I believe it might just make things more difficult for little old lady hands to be dealing with.
The glass screen protector is a bit on the cheap. While we’ve all grown accustomed to the indecipherable Chinese “instructions”, these were pretty much the same, but shouldn’t’ve been since this is supposed to be the simplest phone on the planet. But I’ve changed enough screen protectors to figure it out. Still cheap though, and I could’ve got better ones off eBay and at a better price.
So those are my gripes, but with the phone service itself, it’s fabulous. The main thing is increasing battery sufficiency, and perhaps making the next models a tad smaller for little old lady hands.
Meanwhile, thanks for creating the RAZ Memory Phone 🙂

Hello Shawn, thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! We’re happy to know your mother has adapted well to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone.
The phone size is important because it allows us to make buttons, contact icons, and other elements large enough for seniors, especially in Low Vision mode.

I love the thought and effort that has gone into this! My mom got scammed last year, which is why I got her this phone. My primary reason for the purchase was to eliminate her fear of getting scammed again. There are a couple of things to be aware of though. ( Keep in mind this is on T-Mobile as a carrier) My mom can receive text messages from people not in her contacts list! And I am not getting notifications regarding them.
There are a few suggestions I would make. First, I would suggest some tiered control capability, to slowly adjust for diminished understanding. Inside the person selection adapt it to call or text. My mom knows both functions, but tries to find texting inside the person screen, instead of on the main screen. Along with this, would be a dial pad. I would “hide” it behind a person icon, but my mom is still functioning at a pretty high level, and losing the ability to make direct calls on her own has been one of her complaints with the phone, but make it care giver controllable.
Give the ability to take, receive, store, and access photos. Use a square or camera shaped button for access. This is moms biggest complaint about the phone. We made such a big deal about those features when she got a cell phone in the first place that Mom knows and loved them on her last phone.
Lastly, several phones have a built in G-force sensor which could then send a fall alert to the caregiver.
I understand that these are highly individualized requests, but you’ve covered so many of my areas of concern for keeping my mom safe, comfortable, and in contact with her friends and family, that these are the only areas of improvement I have found. And mom’s only complaints.

Hello Matt!
Thank you very much for your feedback. We really appreciate it and take all comments into consideration. The RAZ Memory Cell Phone is constantly updated, and current customers receive all updates 100% free.
It’s important to clarify that you can limit text messaging to contacts only, just as with calls. This can be done in the Text Messaging General Settings by tapping the toggle for “Limit incoming and outgoing text messages to contacts only.”
If you need any assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’ll be glad to help!

This phone is perfect for my mom. It makes making and receiving calls so much easier for her. With just the touch of her finger she is able to contact any family member she wants to talk to. The caregiver app makes it super simple for me to add contacts for her and make any adjustments to her phone that she needs. This is an ideal phone for seniors.

I got this for my 92-year-old dad who is having cognitive issues. My only regret is that I didn’t know about this phone several years ago. It is exactly what he needs. Simple and easy to use, without bells and whistles that would only confuse him. He loves it and so do it. Thank you.

This phone is a game changer for the caregivers of a person with dementia. It has a lot of great features which solve the common issues encountered. Ability to limit in-coming and outgoing calls, quiet hours, repeated call limits, etc. A lot of thought has gone into the design. I would give it 4.5/5 stars is if I could because despite the phone being fixed to full volume, it is still not quite loud enough on speaker phone for the elderly with hearing aids. Also, the layout of the caregiver app isn’t quite as intuitive as the developers believe. For example, the location where the ordering of contacts can be changed did not include the ability to change where 911 was placed (if it was made a contact), so it took us a while to figure out that we had to go to the 911 section to move the 911 icon to the lowest position so my MIL would not purposely or accidentally press it. Once we figured that out, we were relieved that it would be harder for her to get to. Overall, we are really glad we switched from the iphone to this phone and of course will never go back.

Hi Susan,
Thank you so much for your feedback and for your kind words about the RAZ Memory Cell Phone! We’re glad to know it’s been useful for your mother in law.
The RAZ Memory Cell Phone speaker is one of the loudest on the market, reaching up to 126.5 dB. However, we understand that even then it may not be enough for some seniors with hearing loss.
If you need any assistance, please feel free to reach out to our Support team at 800-729-0083. We’re always here to help!

Excellent product Excellent Service Team. Bought for my uncle 93 yrs old. Only wish the phone had a smaller version. He takes it when he is out and about. He still drives. Really too big to carry in pocket, so he tends to leave in the car.

Hi Darrell,
Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! We’re happy to know that the RAZ Memory Cell Phone has been useful for your uncle.
The phone size is important because it allows us to make buttons, contact icons, and other elements large enough for seniors, especially in Low Vision mode.
If the phone doesn’t fit your uncle’s pocket, we recommend that you take a look at the Vertical Pouch with Belt Clip.
If you need any assistance, please feel free to reach out to our Support team. We’ll be glad to help!

This is a great product for older folks who are not accustomed to new technology. Simple to use and the remote helper is a real advantage to facilitating communication. Thank you
